Buying used gx610 or gx630

I have a chance to get either engine. Is there any serious tips on what to look for that would kill the deal? I’m not really familiar with either, but was told they just sat, and arent broken, just need tlc.

I guess Ill just look at the oil and spin the crank and listen for any previous carnage or at least some suction and see if pressure is good. I dont have alot of time read up, and any 1 of them is only 150.

Bring a battery and at least 1 gallon of gas. Maybe a few feet of 1/4 fuel line. If you can’t hear them run don’t buy them. If you can hear them run you should still check compression and oil pressure before buy them .

The oil pumps and governors on the 610 can let go and mess up the engine pretty good and It could be hard to tell if it’s broken without running it . 150 sounds like a good price to me if the condition is good ! The early gx610 had steel connecting rods that were supposedly overbuilt.

Thanks guys, I wont have the luxury of testing them as wont have the time. I was hoping for something obvious, because of that lack of time.

At $150 I’d buy both! I have an overflowing garage though!

Same. Haha. I’m going to try to rebuild that udor pump 7300 psi and I’m already planning on using a kubota gasoline 3 cylinder engine to power it. Hahaha.

Someone else got them. But I have others that I know work.

That pump won’t work because it’s a direct drive pump. Flange won’t match up and won’t be able to convert to pulley or gearbox

I’m afraid of that. If it doesn’t work out. It would be a great boat anchor I suppose. I Felt like I couldn’t get hurt on the deal.
