Buying my first Pressure Washer, Hot or Cold pressure Washer?

I’m looking for clarification if I should invest into a cold or hot pressure washer for my first purchase. Is there a pressure washer that can do both?

Ideally, I would like to offer services that utilizes both temperatures as I found out from doing research that there are certain things that I can clean with cold temperatures (dirt) that I cannot do with hot temperatures (grease/oil on driveways).

My gameplan is to offer the widest range of exterior cleaning (driveways, sidewalks, softwash) and I’m wondering what would be the best approach to tackle this.

Am I overthinking it and should I just purchase a cold water pressure washer?

Depends on what you wash. I bought a hot water unit 20 years ago and kept it for a year. No need for it in what I do. I also don’t try to be master of all. Find a niche and get efficient at it. Be it hot or cold.

What he said. You only need hot water for commercial concrete. Machines with hot water do cold water also. You can turn the heater on and off.

That cat joins every so often to pitch sunjoe. Probably a paid blogger or whatever they are called

Is a powerline power washer a pretty decent starter trailer? Thanks.

You can put one together yourself a lot less. In my opinion they’re extremely over priced.

Check out what I found on Facebook Marketplace.

Where at?

I see Orlando, FL.

Looks to me as one of those Northern Tool direct drive washers. 7500 new.

This 9,995.00 is that well overpriced for what they are offering? Trying to get a decent starter rig. Thanks.

That’s for the vanguard 18 hp 5 gpm.

Yes, in Orlando. Not mine but found it on FB.

So are mainly all hot pressure washers able to spray cold water?? Or only certain? I know use the search button I have and cnt find nada, Im sure someone can chime in.

Check the serial number. If it has either a number or letter in it then the hot water machine can also spray cold water.

All hot water units can be used as cold only. You just don’t turn the burner on. The burner heats the water up when you have it switched on. When not switched on it is just a normal cold water pressure washer. If you are doing residential work you don’t need hot water. We had a thousand plus customers before we got into hot water. You can also buy a cold water pressure washer and add a hot water burner to it if you end up needing it. If you are doing residential I would suggest getting the most gallons per minute cold water you can afford. 8gallons per minute will make you a ton of money and be cheaper than a 4 gallon a minute hot water unit.
