My burner is throwing out serious flames from the exhaust. I tried adjusting the air band to keep it from running fuel rich but it put out the flame. Closing it more made it billow black smoke and flames, so I shut off the burner.
I noticed this issue began after replacing the igniter for the burner. Same exact model and specs as the original. Could it be the coil just needs cleaning for better air flow? I took some pictures of the inside and the burner assembly.
Because burners are mostly the same and this is a forum with peope who are are experienced and could help. I can post pics, story, etc, and get replies without being on hold for god knows how long trying to talk to corporate.
Because when I have a specific problem, my 1st call is to my dealer. If they can’t help, (and everyone on here knows that your dealer has been pretty much worthless from day one), my next call is to the manf. Most in this industry are very good about helping clients out and they’re going to know how to deal with the the problem probably better than anyone on here. It’s also a chance to build a relationship with someone who come be helpful to you in future with further problems, if you can mange not to piss them off. I have the names and personal cell #'s of the engineers of 2 of the different 12V pumps I use
Plus probably only about 10% of the people on here even run heaters. I have been for years and I have no clue what your problem might be. The only thing I’ve ever done to any of mine is change the fuel filter.
But as with most everything regarding your equipment you don’t listen. Numerous people on here gave you rec. where to go buy your equipment based on a lot of actual experiences and you chose to ignore us and went and over paid for a lessor quality unit and trailer that you’ve had a ton of problems with. And as usual, I gave you sound advice and you’re all indignant.
If it’s a generic question, sure post it on here? How to wire reels, something on a Honda engine, stuff like that, etc. But for a specific problem with a specific heater, this probably isn’t the place. Notice there hasn’t been a wealth of replies
I didn’t mean to be indignent. I appreciate your reply. The dealer wasn’t going to refund me regardless and I was stuck with it from the betinning. Alkota is known to be a reputable brand. There aren’t many pressure washer rig dealers in my area to begin with so I got the luck of the draw and made do. Its been mostly functional after workjng out the bugs.
I’m also mostly a stay at home parent with young kids so I don’t have a lot of time to work on this at length. Usually I work at night and plan a day when the grandoarents can watch the kids I can take care of the business. Its just my situation, not an excuse. Its difficult to make business calls without interruption so I find it convenient to post here for help because I can do it withoht interruptuon usually.
I see you’re point about most people not having burners. In my mind I figured it was a relatively common subject and someone might say “your igniters need realignment, check filter, i’ve had this issue before and here’s what you check, etc”.
Anyway, I didn’t mean to bother anyone. I’ll check with manufacturer. Thanks for always being a voice of reason on here. I appreciate it.
@KDAL_Tex It’s been some time so I can’t recall why I quit offering up my advice to you so yeah here goes. Order a new fuel nozzle and don’t touch it without a glove. The info is stamped on it. They do wear it’s a maintenance item! Order new electrodes one ceramic insulator is cracked so it’s grounding out!!! They should also be sharply pointed and air gapped correctly!!! They wear it’s a maintenance item! And clean the air swirler!!!
That would have been me! My biggest shop is 10 mins away from him but he didn’t want to hang back then. I think I weirded him out when I screenshotted a street view that matched one of the pictures he posted I could have had him setup with enclosed storage for his rig and all my knowledge on the house but nah lol
Your electrodes are shot and to far apart. Get a rebuild kit for that particular washer and a new fuel nozzle, follow directions to a tee, YouTube videos are available.
