I was approached by a local builder that I work for occasionally to see if these marks could be removed from the concrete. This was poured in early March in Iowa. Burlap was placed over the freshly poured concrete at the time of pour. He thinks these are stains from the burlap. I wonder if the burlap placed on the concrete didn’t change the texture of the cream enough to cause the appearance of discoloration.
I think it looks cool. I say leave it.
I would guess that would need to be ground down. Or have the concrete sub jack hammer it out and replace it.
If the burlap actually textured the concrete they placed it on there too soon. It’s possible it might be stained. If it’s textured I would hit it with muriatic acid and try to etch it. That might help it blend some. The less diluted it is and, the longer you let it sit, the more it will etch. Do a test spot first just to see what it looks like. Etching it pretty much eats away a tad bit of the concrete. You also might be able to use a colored sealer to help blend it but I bet the lighter spots will still be noticeable. If it’s actually stained the muriatic should help with it too but I would still try other chems just for the heck of it. From what I can see it definitely looks like it textured it though.
Wouldn’t staining from burlap be tan or brown?
Looks like it wasn’t completely dry when they covered it and when the water started evaporating, moisture built up in some areas and caused the cream to set differently. Just a theory. If that is the case, diluted muriatic acid might help to even it out with multiple applications like @marinegrunt mentioned.
You try to fox it and it doesn’t come out better or looks worse it could become your problem now. I wouldn’t touch that.
I’m going to channel a grumpy spirit and say “walk away”.
Dang, we need emojis!
IMO, They poured and finished it ,Rain came in so they covered it with visqueen plastic to protect it, They didn’t remove the plastic fast enough before curing, It now is not a cleaning job its a grinding job , Your not gonna be able to help those folks unless you have one of these on your trailer, Or rent one.
That didn’t cure correctly. I’m 99.9% confident that’s going to be there forever unless it’s ground down.
I mean what @Hotshot said
