Buffer tank/bypass line?

What’s this I keep reading about with bypass and buffer tank? I tried looking up videos and can’t seem to figure it out. Does it help the flow of water or something?

Keeps water coming in… doesnt recycle it within the pump.

All machines have this bypass.
But when you have a buffer tank, thats when you redirect it there.

That hose that goes from the unloader out, you extended to the tank.
If water keeps circulating it heats up, then you release valve kicks in, but if its not working you are screwed
So you extended to the tank.

Extending then to the tank. Small 1/2 hose on the side

So it’s best for me to run one from my unloader to the buffer tank if I haven’t already? What’s the benefit?

Yes run bypass to buffer, it keeps water circulating when you are not squeezing the trigger. Water flowing will keep your pump cool when you are not flowing water

Dont forget to get a plug

What machine you running?
And like @dustin145 said get a plug

If its a small machine…then just get a weeping gun.
It will be a cheaper option

Not trying to be a jerk, but I found this for you in less than 30 seconds using the search tool:

Try searching “tank bypass” “buffer tank plumbing”

There are also some really good older threads in some of the other reputable forums.

Hope this helps.
