Brown vinyl shake oxidized

Fallout… ok that one is new to me. It looks better wet. When dry it is very faded looking.
So out of ideas with the protool being similar to your recommendations of purple?

I would go have a honest conversation with the home owner. Go explain you tried what you could to remove it but it only seemed to make it worse. Do whatever you can to make them satisfied. Until then read up on this thread on fallout as it’ll definitely help you in the future

Don’t forget to take a close look at everything before you wash it. Take pictures of prior damages and most importantly, set expectations. Setting expectations is key to having a satisfied customer every time. If they don’t like what you can and can’t do while setting your expectations, it will save you from being in this type of situation. If you haven’t already read this saying…sometimes you make more by walking away. A saying that has definitely helped me.

Alright so after reading about fallout i think we mixed messages here. The part closer to the eves is closer in color to what the vinyl should actually look like.
The problem area is the whitish part in the 80% of the center.
If I burned it will gutter butter and or LAwesome give me a shot at resto? Or is it paint and or replace time.

Buddy, throwing every chemical you can think of at it isn’t the way to do it. You’re just asking for more issues. Call a painter and get a quote to have it painted.

You didn’t “burn” anything. Talk to the customer and listen to what @DisplacedTexan said

See if you can find the manufacturer and year manufactured of that shake. Take that info and Google it. Bet you’ll find several issues with it. Personally, I’d say it’s just cheap contractor grade stuff that has faded and has had the plastics broken down by the sun. You could try some vinyl restore type stuff as a last ditch effort. There is also such a thing as paint made specifically for vinyl siding.

Actually, after quick google search, I found tons of people having issues with that stuff. Guarantee you it’s Nailite siding. Tell the homeowner to Google “Nailite siding fading” and read for themselves if they don’t believe you. I wouldn’t pay for a repaint. That’s not your fault it’s crappy siding.

That type of vinyl shake is the cream of the crop garbage.

It fads, it flakes, it oxidizes, its trash.

The slightest touch of a finger will mess it up.

The afterwash of the secondary chemical is def what did the most damage hands down.

There is no return from what you see now. There is no underlayer of good vinyl to expose with this type of siding. The more you dig, the worst it will get.

If siding like that isnt green, dont touch it.

I wouldn’t trust a lot of painters here to paint siding and make it look good.

Is that not what I said?

Finger test, spray test and if it’s not black or green it gets water and soap no SH.

You’ve gotten a lot of good info here. The model # and manufacturer will most the time be printed on the nail tab of the siding.

LOL I don’t blame you. I would have to call one because I don’t have painting equipment or any knowledge of how to paint vinyl shake but it seems like painters are one of those areas where having a good one in your contact list goes a long way.
