Briggs & Stratton (Craftsman) 1800 PSI electric

I have a m/n 020358-00 pressure washer and the motor won’t start. This is an intermittent problem. Worked fine all day yesterday but today it is on strike. I suspect a pressure switch but can’t figure out how to get the front cover off to troubleshoot. Any help really appreciated. Deck project is on hold and I have a family reunion happening this Saturday. Please help if you know how to get this apart and troubleshoot it.
Here is a link to a parts site that provides a picture. This is an obsolete unit. Very few parts are available but often, off-the-shelf parts may be.

Nothing to add on the pressure washer, but what’s your favorite Scotch? I’m a Laphroaig man, myself. :tumbler_glass:

I’m also not much help on the pressure washer. Most everyone here owns a pressure washing company and don’t mess with homeowner type units. I was just going to recommend renting one. You can probably get a 4 gpm washer for $50 a day and will likely save you hours worth of time in cleaning.

@Thom same here! I flew out there a few years ago and took a tour of Laphroaig. Was surprised how many busses and ferries it took to finally get there lol

I agree, easy to just rent one from Home Depot to get your project finished

I’m soooo jealous, it’s on my bucket list.

Well, I have to drink rum now. Allergies to grains :roll_eyes:Back in the day… Royal Crown, but i was a kid. Now I’m 65.

I just got back from my local Ace hardware $67/day for a 4gpm/2300 psi unit.

They’re robbing ya! If you didn’t pick it up, Home Depot does an electric 1400 PSI for $40 all day. You don’t want much more pressure than that or your deck will turn to splinters

Wow, you guys are amazing. I never expected responses like this in this short a period of time.

Thank you for all the replies. After I get through this weekend, I’ll get it apart and post back as to how and what I find.

I’d rather pay $27 more for a 4 gpm versus a 1.8 gpm or whatever the electric is. The time saved is worth it too me. Just don’t use the red or yellow tip. Green is probably fine.

@scotchwhiskey, Brian (marinegrunt) has been doing this much longer than me, that’s pretty sound advice! Just do your best to do whole board lengths, and try and keep the tip far enough back that you’re not fuzzing up the boards

Thx marinegrunt!

Got it! Thx

Actually, the higher pressure/higher GPM made short work of the remaining deck. Just had to hold the nozzle back a bit further than you would with the lower output unit. Besides, Home Depo is 40 minutes away.
