So you used nmd-80 to remove the mortar shown in the picture, but what about the mortar that NEEDS to be there? The mortar between the brick. Was that not damaged?

No sir I cleaned brick for yrs before I started cleaning anything else

I’m not claiming I know more than you, I just don’t understand how one can apply chemical to remove excess mortar, and it not effect the mortar around/underneath it. Heck, I haven’t even used a professional pressure washer yet! I’m just here to learn all I can before I start offering it as a professional service.

My original question was asked purely out of curiosity.

Garrett, the NMD80 will only remove the top layer of mortar. It won’t eat through it all, unless you apply, rinse, apply, rinse, apply, rinse and so forth. That’s if you use it properly anyhow.

For years I was a mason contractor and after we would lay the brick I would go behind my crew and clean the brick.I was a contractor for 13 yrs and before that I worked for my father.Cleaning brick on new construction is differant than cleaning mold and mildew off of brick, I use an xjet to apply the NMD-80 and when you start rinsing the wall you half to becareful or you can blow the mortar out of the joints. I still clean a lot of new construction for about 3 contractors. Cleaning new construction is probably the hardest thing to clean and the most time consuming cleaning you can do.
