Brand New 8GPM Surging

I recently got a brand new GX690, and when my water gets to around 40-50 gallons the machine water pressure will begin to surge in and out and get really low like it’s looking for water or something. I have a 1’ crush proof intake that’s probably about 6 feet long, and the only thing in between is a 1’ inline filter. Why could this be happening?

Another problem is that the box around my belt came misaligned, and when in bypass it rubs against the side of the box. Now there’s a huge indent in the metal, and im sure my belt is burnt, because the box came misaligned

I’m only running a 5.5 gpm with 1" hose and filter, but I thought it was recommended to run at least 1.5 inch for any machine over 7 gpm… so using 1 inch hose and filter might be the issue.

are both your ball valves fully open? is your flow thru the filter the correct way? jave you set your unloader properly?

Oh shoot do I have to set the unloader? I thought it came pre-set?

preset? no way to tell.

Sometimes you need to set it. Hey get a ZK1 unloader while you’re at it.

Idk the machine inlet is only a 1’ so I feel like it’s probably alright

Already got one. I’ve been waiting to swap it on there and a few other little things once I get some downtime. I just wanted to get this pressure surging thing fixed before doing the swap

When the water gets low it’s probably creating a vortex, sucking air. Like when you drain a bath tub. Put a 90 on the inside of the tank to prevent that

Where should I put the 90? Just in a bulkhead on the top?

no, the inside of tank. connect to bulkhead there. it’s to deter the above mentioned vortex, it sucks air if your tank is low.

Okay. Thank you. I’m not sure if my tank has threads to put in a 90. Is there any alternative?

all the totes ive seen had a rubber 90.
but you won’t be able to put one in there, no way i know of.
do this… turn you pump on and run the tote low and look in it as it gets real low and verify if it is indeed making a vortex.

Okay. What should I be watching for? Just like a whirlpool swirl kind of motion?

Now I have to ask, where is your bypass fitting aimed? If it’s straight down near the tank outlet it may be getting air sucked in that way. Mine shoots straight across.

I think you’re onto something here. It faces straight down out of a bulkhead. I’ll go take a pic in a couple minutes

Put a 90 degree elbow on it, divert bypass water spraying up against side wall not straight down.

I just did some testing and this is definitely my issue. My water feed also sprays right down toward my tank outlet, so both of them attribute to the problem. I’ll need to put a 90 on both of them. Is there a way to put a 90 on a Hudson float valve?

You’re spot on. I was able to run my water all the way down because I just left the trigger open without going into bypass at all. My water feed and my bypass both spray right toward my tank outlet. Only when I had my water feed turned off and I didn’t go into bypass could I empty my tank

Glad I could help, easy fix.:+1:

I have my Hudson mounted vertically, you may want to just relocate it to the other side, and shoot the bypass horizontally if that plastic can take the pressure.
