Bought my first rig

If a vendor installed that I’d take the entire rig back and get my money back. That’s not good business. Cut some lawn mower blades in half, or get some flat steel to make some “washers”. You don’t need help, just some wrenches, drill and grinder with a cutting wheel

I’m going to contact the seller and see if they’ll fix it. They seemed pretty up and up from my dealings with them but I really took notice last night when I saw the tank screws pulling out of the wood. Anybody have a picture of a properly secured and reinforced rig? I’d like to send it as a comparison to what I received.

Any opinions on the direct injection Honda GCX800 engine? It’s a powerful engine but I’ve heard from a guy at my local hotsy dealer that they’re hard to get parts for. Wicked powerful though at 8gpm i’m getting 4200psi on the dial.

Another thing you ought to get them to fix is this QD socket that’s upside down up against the coil assembly. Swapping that o-ring while it’s upside down and where you can’t see it without a mirror that you’ll then have to look at while your movements are opposite of what your trying to do will get old the very first time. They should have plumbed it with a JIC fitting so you can remove it easily.

Holy heck you’re right. I have a hard enough time swapping o-rings on the surface cleaner 1/4" line. This would be a nightmare. Thanks for pointing that out

If they are uninterested I’ll plumb it for you and send you the two fittings you’ll need. All my coil assemblies were plumbed so I could just crack a JIC loose and pull the entire QD socket and swap it while holding it in my hand.

Sheesh, they didn’t even use fender washers. 2 guys could rip that sucker right out.

Nice looking truck, like those wheels.

I think they were just rationing as you can see they threw one on one of the others

They didn’t use any washers on the toolbox. I just see the tips of the screws barely poking through. I also notice the pine boards starting to splinter/crack in some areas. Wish I noticed all this stuff on delivery but I didn’t know to look for it at the time.

I’m hopeful they’ll make it right. I bought from Action Cleaning Systems based out of Tyler, Texas. Anyone else deal with them? There aren’t a lot of dealers in the DFW area and they were very consistent with outreach and worked hard to make the sale. Other dealers were non responsive or charged more for less. The machine itself retails $17,000 but they only charged $9000. I’m curious as to why I got such a deal. Maybe it was on their lot too long. Seemed like a deal for a giant Honda engine powered Alkota. My local Hotsy dealer at the time wanted $13k for a 8gpm 3500psi Pressure tech unit with a GX630 engine before trailer, tank and reels.

With typical rigs costing $18-20k I figured I got a decent deal for the capability of the machine and engine. But the build quality leaves me concerned. I was initially impressed with the plumbing until yall pointed out concerns with the inaccessibility of the oring seals on the QDs, lack of reinforcement on mounting and how the compressed air valve would only blow water out of the coil not the puml itself.

All in all, seemed great at first but their were some red flags I didn’t know existed. Again I’ll see if they’ll fix it for me. The machine itself performs excellently. Just concerned about the tank falling off, boards breaking and pain in the rear plumbing.

You paid $9k because that’s the going rate. You need a honest vendor. And you need tools to put your rig together.

The good thing, all of the things we mentioned are easily fixed and not expensive to do. But whoever put it together should have known. You have a collision and that 1,000lb skid becomes a 10,000 lb projectile. The only thought I have on that is it will probably peel the top of your truck and your head off which will slow it down some before it hits someone else.

PS: what else works if you don’t have any old mower blades are edger blades are about $2each and you can find them most anyplace that sells lawn equipment.

That’s disappointing. Yeah, I would say they need to make that rig safe to transport at the very minimum. The little things you’ll eventually get worked out but if I had dropped five figures on a trailer build and saw that I’d probably return it and get a refund. I mean, they didn’t even bother to use large fender washers to spread the load out a bit. Not that that would even be enough but still.

I think Lowe’s and Home Depot sell angle iron and may even cut it. If not, the old death wheel and 10 minutes of your time and you can probably make enough straps to cover everything that’s bolted to the floor. And, use good hardware. You’ll probably have to get some longer bolts because it looks like they used bolts that are just barely long enough to clear the wood and get a nut on. I like Nylock (sp?) nuts for stuff like this. Lock washers are useless so you can skip them just get some good fender washers and you should be golden.

Lol just read the rest of the thread and basically everything I just wrote has already been mentioned. Roll on.

Let the vendor make the upgrades; just offer them the opportunity & they should jump all over it. Then they will know what they need to do different on the next rig they send down the road. I’m sure they will appreciate the constructive feedback. It will only make them better in the long run. Also, ask them if they’ve heard of Hannay reels while you’re there.

Are you saying don’t put bleach in a tank with a bulkhead at the bottom?

Yes, no bleach. And I’d take the equipment off and the decking and weld some square tubing to supplement that angle for cross pieces. I really wouldn’t trust them to do anything else to it. You could have that thing put together ship shape over a weekend.

Agreed, if they let it leave the lot like that, they probably don’t know what they are doing. Imagine getting in a wreck after leaving their lot, I bet they would be firing someone and blaming them for not doing it right. Meanwhile, every other one left the lot like that.

Seems a little hacky to me. Then again, I’ve heard lots of home improvement or building contractors say “can’t see it from my house”.

Grade 8 nuts &bolts for anything heavy. Why take a chance, they aren’t that much more.

Then how do you get bleach out of your Chem tank? For instance I have a bulkhead with a ball valve at the bottom of my Chem tank so I can get bleach out and into a 5 gal pail so I can ds or fill a pump sprayer. Is your siphon tube plumbed directly to your Chem tank at the top?

Downstream out of tank. Pick up tube thru the top. I might use a pump sprayer every few years so it’s not really an issue. If it is for you, carry a gallon of bleach in a big or five gallon square tote. Use bulkhead unions in top of tank with plastic barb on top and PVC going into the tank.
