I’m doing a WC job for a valued customer, and I suggested she get her house and shed softwashed as it has a fair amount of algae growth. I mentioned bleach killing it, and she said matter of factly that SH only bleaches, and won’t kill algae…but vinegar will.
I’ve been doing this all wrong!
Their is some truth to vinegar killing algae. Not in what we do but on a small scale in a residential situation it does work.
“You know ma’am, I also have a vinegar application that is effective as well! I also use a lemon scent in it to mask the smell as strong vinegar is offensive to some. What do you say, schedule you for tomorrow?”.
Pull, spray the house with SH/Elmenator, rinse, collect check…
Tell her to pour some bleach on her grass and see if she still believes that 3 months from now lol
3 months? Maybe 1 week. Ask me how I know.
Oh I know it’ll kill it fast. Spilled some around the edge of my driveway last year. Still no grass. Just figured she’d change her tune after a couple months of no growth.
I’ll be having about 100sqft sodded next week. Customer said his gutters drained underground to retention pond. I cleaned the roof and a week later we found out he has pop ups in the middle of the yard.
Ouch!

And that was the valueable lesson for the day. He knew it was kinda on him. He’s being totally cool about it and has already given me two referrals so it all works out in the end. For sure checking myself next time around.
LOL, I had the same thing happen to me last year. I come down off roof and see bubbles coming up a couple of places like 10’ from edge of house. He was cool about it though.
It’s funny now but when you get the call about it, not so much lol. It kinda sucks dealing with a screw up even with a cool customer. I can’t imagine dealing with a difficult one. Trying my best to avoid that.

I think she is confusing algae and mold.
Yeah, apparently all that algae just turns clear and carries on as if nothing happened.
