Bleach damage- plants, furniture, etc

Hello all. So I’ve been downstreaming 10% SH @ 4gpm, and I’m still not super confident in what the diluted bleach will and won’t ruin. I always try and saturate all plants in the area both before and after I rinse, but cannot help but feel that I am wasting time by rinsing before I apply my chems. At least the amount I am wetting them before anyway. Also, what about things on pool patios like BBQ pits, wind chimes, wicker furniture, & fabric furniture. What am I ok with not having to worry too much about, & what SHOULD I be worried about getting my bleach mix on? Any thoughts?

Most outdoor furniture is fine to get bleach on, although I would try and avoid it. Rinse afterwards and you’ll be fine.

Rinsing plants depends on the type of plant and how it looks, if you’ve been getting a lot of rain or not.

Honestly the only time we rinse plants is from mid July to mid August when we don’t get much rain.

Whatever SH you get on them from overspray you will more then likely do the same with water as your rinsing without even realizing it.

Hot tub covers

Grills

Patio furniture

Flags ( I usually take down if there home and give it to the customer and will put back up just out of respect). But SH does not hurt them

All of that your SH won’t hurt…just rinse afterwards.

Biggest thing that sh can affect is certain door knobs and light fixtures. Usually a “bronzed” color SH will blacken up. That comes with trial and error or you can bag light and cover door knobs.

And wooden entry doors with a failing coating. I dont pre wet plants usually unless its really hot and has not rained at all. I rinse then mostly with over spray as mentioned above. Roof washing is when I get really concerned

I usually have people move anything they don’t want detergents on including patio furniture, grills, hanging plants…everything. I text them the night before.

I didn’t pre-wet some patio furniture at one house this past spring…can’t remember what it was made of but it was windy that day and when I came back to rinse that side of the house the furniture was all spotted with SH overspray. I just make it a habit to pre-wet everything…not overdo it…but it gives me peace of mind. It can’t hurt.

Leaves on plants have tiny pockets that if you saturate the plants with water…the pockets fill up…so the house mix is diluted even more. I haven’t lost a plant or even a flower yet (that I know of…no call backs)

You can get sloppy when housewashing…especially if you have 3-4 houses that day…easy to cut corners it could also comeback and bite you.
