Best way to clean pavers?

Looks good. Again, you don’t need someone keeping plants wet unless you’re washing a roof. Even then, it’s not always necessary.

Yeah since I’m new, I don’t know what you can and can’t get away with when it comes to managing the landscaping.

But good to know for next time

@wap2dem You definitely want to use a polymeric joint sand or a joint stabilizing sealer to harden and lock the sand into place. Otherwise the sand will wash out in no time.

Okay cool, I see Bunnings also sell polymeric sand, I’ll use that for our next paver job (getting quite a few at the moment)

@wap2dem you can also mix some concrete dust in and it will harden. Makes cleaning them next time easier.

How much concrete dust would you mix in with it?

75/25

if you were using concrete dust could you get away with using dried sand or do you still have to use poly sand?

Only poly sand

roger that

Do not mix concrete dust with polymeric sand. It already has polymers in it to harden. If you mix dust with it there’s a good chance that it will leave a haze on the surface.
Just make sure you use a good polymeric sand.

I have been doing it that way for a long time never had a problem definitely makes it harder and last longer. But you do what works for you

Just going by what the sand and sealer manf say. That’s the main and pretty much the only reason to use polymeric sand is that it has the polymers to harden it up. In FL you’d probably be shot for just using poly sand.

@Racer You are probably right. A few guys in my department started a company all they do is pavers. I learned this trick from one of them. It really does make a difference. But I’m in va and that’s how we do it. Always appreciate a different perspective.

75/25 by weight or by volume?

Probably perfect for up there. Goes with the ‘old brick’ look. Kind of the same down here, we use to do a lot of houses with grapevine mortar joints with old looking over- sized brick

@Greenman I mix mine in my mixer I fo it by the shovel no different than making mortar or thin set in a bucket but I have been doing it that way for a long time so I have gotten to know how a want it by eye. If you have never done it I would do it in a bucket or on a tarp. You have to do a better job of sweeping I use my hand held blower after just to knock off dust you need to stand back dont blow out what you put In. Then dampen the patio. Will get hard as a brick
