Best pressure/garden hose diameter?

Im looking to upgrade both my garden hose and my pressure hose. And was wondering what the best diameter for both would be. For reference I am running a 4gpm machine.

5/8" is fine for supply hose, 3/8" for pressure.

Ive heard certain diameter’s of hose shoot farther when doing long range stuff like a house wash is that true?

You’d need to test on your specific setup. Assuming it’s an “out of the box” system being 4gpm, you may want to post make/model info and see if someone can help you out.

With a in house skid build, you have to test to know for sure. My predecessor swapped all our chem hose to a different diameter a few years ago because someone said it was better, but it cycled our pumps into shutdown mode and was useless. We went back to the old size, and everything was fine. Things like length of hose and elbows/connectors can change the dynamics of systems, so certainly one 4gpm may not perform the same as another does.

See my reply.

The different diameter hoses are for 12v or gas or air powered softwash systems. Some guys use 1/2 inch hp hoses but thats definitely not for 4 gal machines

thanks!
