Belt replacement question

Can I use automotive belts on a pressure washer? The ones I just took off are “34” Maska Blue Flex, assuming they are the originals.

A belt is a belt. I use Gates myself. Just make sure they are cogged belts, not smooth.

Kevlar corded belts are the way to go. Cogged belts allow for tighter bends in the belt such as when going around a small pulley. There are variations between fully wrapped belts and ones that aren’t and it has to do with traction. None of this may be important for a belt driven pressure washer, but in commercial lawnmowers in makes all the difference.

This is what my vendor sold me for my 4/4

I’ve never actually changed mine.
How do you know when it’s necessary to change it?

I change mine after about two tightenings. After that they are too stretched out to be of any good.

Ok how do you know when to tighten?

Squealing, pressure lose, more than a 1/4 inch of play when you press down in the middle. Guys check oil and belts every single day first thing.
