Battery power chainsaw options (long winded, sorry)

You are right about 16” stock and safety chain.

All these battery saws seem to come with 1/4” chains. Not crazy bout that.

It’s a Stihl of course it will start.

You’ll cut a lot faster going down a bar size. You will have to sharpen your chain more so there’s always a trade off. It just depends on what you’re doing with it or what you’re cutting. I have a MS362 that came with a 20" but I prefer putting an 18" on it unless I’m going through real big stuff. I’ll then put on the 20" or 25". Although, I will sometimes put the 25" on when bucking logs so I don’t have to bend over as much.

I personally like Oregon LGX chains. Those suckers will eat and they’re really reasonable online. I’m talking like $15. I hate safety chains.

Been around since I can remember, I’d get that saw home from the not take care of it dude, dump the fuel, fill it with non ethanol fuel and double the dose of seafoam to what the bottle says, fire it up to get it all in the fuel system ,let it sit overnight to start its magic, run the hell outta it the next day. It with dissolve all the deposits and varnish, evaporates all the water and makes it run like new. I swear by it ,and use it in everything I own.Get it at Wally, auto prts store is twice the price

Seafoam is excellent stuff. That or Marvel Mystery Oil but that’s sometimes hard to find and really the seafoam is just so good I haven’t even looked for MMO in a long time. Fresh 91 no ethanol and some seafoam and I GUARANTEE that sucker will start

I alway drop down 2inchs from what came on the saw and go with a better chain.

Edit" of course @marinegrunt does too. :expressionless::expressionless: the wonk

Had any luck yet? Ive got a doe in the freezer and let a 6 pointer walk last weekend. Im out here now waiting for a big one.

Let a momma with 2 fawns walk few weeks ago.

Got busted tonight, wind was perfect for sitting on the nasty cutover/bedding area… then it switched last hour of the day.

Still trying to learn the place, but enjoying every second of being out there. Will hit it hard as i can before gun season starts on 16th.

Full Disclosure: i had the crosshairs on one of the fawns, just couldnt get a good shot.

Im just getting in i seen a huge deer not sure if buck or doe. I was coming out of my spot when i seen it and it was getting dark. My wife is not aloud to go up or down in her climber without me under her lol. So i get to her and she keeps telling me something i tell her to wait till she gets down. I get nervous when she is climbing. She gets down and says" i seen over 6 deer ":neutral_face:.

I asked did younsee a buck she said “ya” i asked why didn’t you shot him she said he wasn’t big enough. …

Im not shoting any fawns or does until she gets her buck. Then ill pick off a few young doe’s. The bigger does have more babies and are only mated by mature bucks usaully.

We are getting up at 5am and headed back. Going to hunt all morning go grab lunch and then hunt all afternoon.

She still gonna get hurt whether your under her and she falls.

Get one of those thingys for both of you… slows down the climbing and your always attached.

Then you can sit in the tree longer and not sorry about her.

Have you used that one?

Not with me under her. I might have a broken neck or back but she aint going to have a scratch. Same when @racer is doing a 3 story roof and im holding the ladder. I hope that day never comes shes 105 and hes 200+ :joy::joy::joy::joy:

Im going to try and sell all my climbers and buy more ladder stands next year. I’ll probably buy us both a good safe climber and we will only uses it on land we cant put a ladder stand on. Ive had some close calls on climbers before and that what makes me nervous when she’s in one. When she get above 10 feet i stsrt saying " thats plenty" :joy::joy:

I’ll look into that harness i bought 2 from walmart before and hated them. They were a real pain in the butt and made it more likely to fall trying to climb while wearing it

She liked driving through the woods in the mud :joy::joy::joy::joy: look how far her seat was up

putting them new mud tires to use.

Edit: dont mind the beer this was on my land not a public road.

I slid 20’+ down a oak tree once… top portion/bottom portion both came down with me too.

I use my climber only during bow season so have rest for shooting xbox… soon as gun season starts ill use the lone wolf hang on. I love that thing and it is sooooooooo much quieter, easier to set up, and can literally go on any tree that will hold your body weight. From swamp trees with huge bases where climber gets all tilted down, to monster trees that took 2 grown men to reach around the tree, to baby pines in a young cutover that are 5” inch diameter. It works on any tree.

Lmao she’s 5’6. She got on the gas a few times in some slick spots.

Ya ladder stands are alot quieter and you will never have to debate whether or not to scare all the deer in a 1 mile radius away to climb down the or crapping your pants 30 feet up in a tree when that times comes and you cant hold it :joy::joy::joy: ive had to climb down some trees pretty fast before lmao
