Barracuda Hot Box from Pressure City

I am in the market for an 8gpm hot box. I’ve been researching many models from pressure pro, Largo, Farley, Bull Dog pro, etc. I want to go with a 12-volt unit. I’ve heard some negative feedback on the pressure pro models, so I am likely going to lean away from them.

So my question is in regard to the Barracuda add-on hot water unit from pressure city. The link above should get you to their site.

Heard great things about the Farley, Bulldog, and the Largo. This particular unit seems like it could be a quality product and they are currently offering free shipping on the unit. Just wanted to reach out and see if anyone has firsthand experience with one of them. I appreciate any feedback.

Thank you

Where are you located? I may have a deal for you.

Central Pennsylvania… about 1 hour east of Penn State University

Ah, well, probably don’t have a deal for you then. I’m like 18 hours drive away but I have a Bull Dog Pro 8gpm hot box that I’d be willing to make someone a deal on as I’m upgrading.

I appreciate the consideration on the Bulldog, and if I was closer I would certainly consider it. Why are you considering upgrading? If there is something else you recommend, I would be open to ideas. I like to spend a little more to have better and more reliable equipment.

What is your opinion on the 12 v system with the higher end units like the Farely, Largo or Bull Dog? Would you still rather have the 120volt?

From what I’ve read, it seems many recommend going with the 120 volt, but what about all the skids that run 12v systems? I’ve seen Hydrotech skids with 3000 plus hours that run great. I am going to transition into restaurant hood cleaning so I can eliminate the downtime from December through March here in the Northeast.

Thanks

I’m just going to a hot water skid to save some floor space. Having the add-on hotbox with separate fuel tank takes up a bit more space. And, honestly, just because I can afford to. I have a nice looking rig and the skid would just look better on there lol

All I have ever a had or ran were 12v hot water machines and, yes, they do have their issues but they’re very simple to work out once you understand what each component does to make the whole thing work. I have never even laid my hands on a 120v machine. One thing I like about 12v systems is you can really simplify the entire thing and most people can understand how to work on them with a bit of guidance and instruction.

To be honest with you, I’d find out what your local vendors sell and then pick from those options. Farley makes a heck of a hot box. They have good coils. Bull Dog Pro uses a much higher rated coil than most anyone else. They also have extremely basic wiring so even a relative newbie can diagnose issues. One problem is the guy that owns and builds those things runs his business like it’s still 1987. I asked for a wiring diagram and got a photo copy of one he wrote out himself. It’s all accurate but dang would be nice to get a nice document when you spend that kind of money on a piece of equipment.

If you buy one that your local vendors carry then you know you should be able to get it serviced and repaired pretty easily.

Thank you for your input. I think I’ll go with the 12 volt just to save space in the trailer. I will continue to look for local vendors and see what I can come up with.

Thank you for your time and feedback!
