Back ground checks

Heres an idea to weed out these local hacks!
Who here knows of any companies that will do a back ground check on yourself/ employees and once you passed, you can use their logo on your marketing materials to show customers your not a ex con.

Grant it, would the avg home owner hire a felon to work on their most prized possession or someone who has gone the extra mile, had a back ground check done and passed.

thoughts?

If your marketing is trying to convince people you are not a crook, I think you should aim higher.

Most law abiding people don’t think about crime much. If anything, they should probably think about it a little more. Their attention is more on quality and price. The possibility that you might be a violent felon or a child molester, rarely enters the calculus.

Didn’t you have to get a background check to get your license? Some of the websites like HomeAdvisor will do a background check as well.

There’s a company called The Seal or something like that who does that exact thing

I do aim high, don’t get me wrong. Im just looking to “one up” on my competitors and give customers a chance to make a decent decision.
No license required for pressure washing in Florida. Some counties need a license. But where I live, certain occupational licenses are not needed and PW is one of them. I don’t and wont deal with home advisor.

I called them today actually. They told me since “soft wash systems” brought them over 100 clients recently, anyone in our trade that wants to use “the seal” needs to go through AC. Just another move to try and corner the market. Needless to say thats why Im looking for another BG company that does what The Seal offers.

I see. Ya definitely don’t support that guy. Yiubcould just do your own background checks and offer the results to anyone whos interested. I understand the idea is to have a company people recognize doing it but i doubt most of your potential customers would recognize asktheseal anyways.

Thumbtack dot com does free background checks and gives you a badge for it. I have one although I dont really use them anymore. I mostly just keep them sround for the good reviews. Theyre very good at generating reviews for you.

How much is Ask The Seal? I would like to do this too. If I call them I’ll tell them I’m not going through AC, but if they want my money they should make something happen. Then I’ll ask who their competitors are.

I asked “Ed” at the seal if I didn’t want to go through AC what were my options. He told me that AC was my only option because they have a “agreement” since AC gave them over 100 clients. Complete BS, but what ever. Is what it is.

He is the ultimate snake oil salesman. I’m a firm believe that a felon who had served his time should have gun ownership rights restored and all stigma removed. I do background checks but if there is nothing current I don’t take the past into account when hiring. Our legal system is to broken as it is.

I agree. But if I’m sending people to someone’s house around wives and kids and selling a service it’s not only marketing but for me it helps ME sleep at night.

Heck… I dig @mrsparkle and think he’s a heck of a guy. But for every George I’d imagine there’s another guy who may not be such a good dude.

It’s a tough one.

I completely agree. Some of the hardest workers, most humble, and honest people I have ever met have been ex cons.

I have a personal friend that took his kids to a country park late in the evening. Public restrooms were locked. He went in the woods to take a leak. No one in the park but him, his wife and kids. Some woman with binoculars on her back deck across a pond called cops. Convicted sex offender to this day and bankrupted for lawyers fees for exposing himself in the presence of minors in a public park. I’m sure everyone has a similiar story. Do away with the war on drugs, tax the heck out of narcotics and let people make their own decisions. But I said no watermelons in ponds for 2 weeks so I’ll stop.

I have a friend who is a FF, a very good one at that, who is a felon. Armed robbery. Way back when. He did his time, wife stayed with him thru jail and I would trust my life, family and future with this guy. A background check tells you what the system says about a man, but not what the man a worth or who he is.

“Chief among the facts is that Brodie Leap — the son whom in 1989 Earnest Leap was accused of molesting — has for decades said his father did no such thing.

Brodie Leap, now 32, has long worked for his father’s exoneration. He has said his mother forced him to falsely accuse his father of sexual abuse during his parents’ divisive divorce. She stands by her story that the abuse occurred.”

Google Brodie Leap Kansas City Star. It’s not letting me copy links for some reason. No one understands like I do. I’m sure of it. Summary: my biological mother was a real piece of work. She got me to say my dad abused me one time because I was afraid of her.

For 25 years my dad and I fought to get him off the list. For 25 years I told people it never happened. Stayed on the list. Also a fact: my biological mother was sleeping with a judge for money in the same courthouse as my dad’s judge.

Believe me… I couldn’t understand any better.

But I also have to put my mind in that of my customer and realize there are people who are felons because they’re wired that way. And there are people that belong on the list.

If you run a business, my personal opinion is, you’ve gotta protect yourself and the customer’s you’re working for. It’s not like a personal choice to do drugs.

Because I agree with you. Legalize it ALL and let people make their own choices.

Legal racketeering.

Couldn’t love you more now brother. Stay strong, love your dad and shake his hand for me, please. I have no one on my roster with a felony, but it wouldn’t necessarily keep me from hiring one. Customers come and go, but a good employee doesn’t.

He’s a great dude. Despite everything got to move in with him young or I might’ve turned into a felon myself. Thanks for the kind words. Nothing but love.
