Assistance needed with new 8gpm setup

Hey guys I have a few questions as I converted from a 5.5 to 8gpm machine. Can my 65 gal tank w 3/4in bulkhead be sufficient? How can I or do I need to prime the machine as it’s electric start? I’m having an issue after starting it where no water comes out for a while. I had to shut it off and opened the Dump valve and then turned it back on and it started spitting water? Also the kickback is pretty strong can anything be done to minimize this, I’m using the jrod for the 8gpm. Also having an issue where the fan rinse tip is sucking soap, but not the high rinse tip. If you guys could help I would appreciate it. Thanks

How is water pressure is your area?

If you dont empty tank/feed line between uses, shouldnt need to prime again.

The other days job was off well water and slow. Luckily I don’t do them too often. Today’s job it started to shoot water immediately as I left the water tank full. But I am still sucking soap with my rinse tip.

Turn the soap off. you need a ball valve.

I wound up pulling the siphon each time to rinse which wasn’t bad as it was less pressure just sucks running back to the truck each time. Why do I have this issue with the jrod on the 8gpm machine when I never had that issue with the 5.5gpm?

Maybe u using the 5.5 tips on ur 8gpm?
Got to change them.

Pulling the siphon tube doesn’t let water flow thru the injector. Spend the $13. It sounds like you were washing incorrectly with your 5.5 gpm. Using tips to stop soap is not washing correctly if you are washing houses.

You really should go to at least a 1" feed with non-collapsible hose from your tank to your machine. 65 gallon tank not going to do you a lot of favors with that 8gpm machine unless you stand around a lot.

What @Racer said. I just made the same exact jump and was using a smaller buffer like you on my 5.5. After the first day using the 8, I ended up buying a bigger buffer. It sucked my smaller buffer dry that first day and like racer said, I ended up having to wait on it to refill. And I would definitely consider going with a 1” feed line to the machine.

I have a 1.5” non collapsible feed from the tank to the machine. The bulkhead from the tank is 3/4 and I have a bushing to make it 1.5”, is that fine or do I need the bulkhead bigger? I will see how this first full week of work goes as the setup is and may need to grab a bigger tank next weekend. Filling Water is usually pretty good in my area, I’m just getting sick of the walking back to the truck. I remember seeing a 3 way ball valve with a remote or something is that a good direction to go to solve the soap/rinse issue?

Did you change your Jrod tips after you put the 8 gpm machine in. The 5 gpm Jrod most likely won’t work well with the 8.

Get yourself a M5DS tip set up for 8+gpm. I only use my j-rod 1% of the time when down streaming. Just put your draw tube in a 5 gallon bucket of water when rinsing for a quick fix. 3 way ball valve is what many here do. Walking back to your truck is annoying at first but when you get efficient and time things right like letting your soap dwell you get used to it.
