Ive washed a few of them. Just use low pressure like normal and it shouldnt be a big deal. I did have one where a tile was broken. I pointed it out to the homeowner and I washed around it instead of hitting it directly. Its your health though.

Watch out for asbestos, my dads got mesothelioma, I will possibly get it too .
Worth treating with respect, I didnt when I was younger.

That sound you hear is silence from a bunch of yanks who thought they were being funny but now don’t know what to say. Sorry bout your dad.

@Innocentbystander as a “Yank” who posted above, you will not get Mesothelioma washing asbestos siding. I also don’t believe my post was inconsiderate to those who have Mesothelioma either. If someone took it that way I apologize.

My grandfather died from mesothelioma when I was 12. Great man. Worked in the mill his entire life. Owned and operated a laundry mat with my grandmother. I remeber him making jokes about his inability to breath almost till the very end. “If you cant laugh then what’s the point.” His words not mine. Everyones family is different. I’m sorry for your father’s illness. My intentions were not to offend. I’ve been there, it’s a tough situation all around. Sometimes laughter heals a broken heart. I know everytime I think about him it helps me. Best wishes and Merry Christmas.

I lived in 2 house with asbestos sidings and all my neighbors had the same siding.(mill village) i also worked at a cotton mill for 2 years that had cotton dust EVERYWHERE. if you couldn’t pass a breathing test they would lay you off

No offense taken , my dad is still working at 73 and is an inspiration to me, it hasn’t got him yet . He told me he used to wire brush loose paint from asbestos sheeting to prepare to paint before anybody knew it was a health risk.
I loved to karate chop sheeting and kick holes in it when i was a kid.
At least I haven’t played with the rope or pipe lagging which is the really bad fibres.
Merry Christmas to all from down under .

@squidskc Were you stationed on a ship or shore duty? I was stationed aboard the USS Preble from 1988 until she was decommissioned in 1991. Preble was commissioned in 1960,so virtually EVERYTHING aboard contained asbestos, from the decking to the insulation on the pipes and bulkheads. My last physical they found nine nodules in my left lung,so it definitely sticks in the back of your mind.Oh,what was your rate?

Hey Mike, a little bit of both. I spent a good deal of time as an athlete with All Navy Sports then 3 different ships based from a shore command but never went to sea longer than a month really.

I was aviation ordnance, but also a SAMI so I did a little of both. So I spent time in a bomb and rocket shop and the armory. Not really a typical naval enlistment.

Sorry to hear about the asbestos mess. Not my intention to joke about for the sake of making anyone feel bad, but simply to make folks laugh.

Oh,I’m not even worried about the nodules, actually their not uncommon according to my doctor.they’re just monitoring them for changes.I know I’ve put way more through my lungs by choice than I ever got from breathing asbestos, lol. I was an OS so we were haze gray and underway pretty regular.

My dad was in Nagasaki as ww2 ended, was a contractor after the war, and smoked almost all of his life. Effects of emphaseuma were devastating. Thankfully none of his children SM ke.
