I don’t mean bypassing the swivel on a regualr hose reel because you’re sick of it leaking, I mean using a reel that didn’t come with a swivel/plumbing in the first place and was specifically made for storage only.
After reading posts on here and seeing YT videos of guys frustrated with their swivels and bypassing them, I’ve decided that when I put my rig together I’m going to do that from the get-go. Then I wondered if any reel manufacturers made models that only stored hose, assuming they’d be cheaper since they wouldn’t have a swivel/plumbing. I haven’t done exhaustive research, but Hannay makes several.
Most reels are generally plumbed or designed to be plumbed. Only in this exterior cleaning game do we not want it plumbed because we don’t always need 100 feet but need full flow to keep up with demands so sections suit us better. Whatever reel you buy and don’t plumb you’ll only ever pay for the swivel once when you purchase the reel, so get the reel you want and just gut it of the fittings. Don’t know if there’s a need to look for specifically a reel that has no plumbing options.
I suppose that’s true. The selection of reels for storage-only is tiny compared to plumbed reels, so it’ll probably be easier to find the right reel and simply ignore the plumbing rather than go on an endless search for a storage-only reel. I haven’t actually even seen a decent pic of one yet to see how you attach the hose to begin reeling it in.
I’ll chalk this up as a topic I shouldn’t have started in the first place. Ha.
