Who here offers wax to a house wash ? Is there an actual long term benefit to the customer’s vinyl siding that you’ve witnessed as compared to just a regular cleaning or is this a gimmicky add-on for a few extra bucks?
I have noticed SH tends to dull the finish on vinyl, I can see there being a market for it.
I’m skeptical. And wouldn’t siding get dirtier quickly with wax on it?
It seems as if you would have to add very little wax which would negate any benefit or you would add enough to make a difference but that seems like it would become a sticky mess. Who knows
I’ve heard of it offered, but not by anyone one here. That tells me 1 of 2 things… either it’s a shady gimmick, or it’s not economically viable (my best guess is possibly both)
Never seen this on vinyl that wasn’t already oxidized.
We’ve offered it since last year. A product called plexmaster. It is a good upsell and Ive heard from other companies that it does prolong the clean for about an extra year. How accurate is this? I don’t know but I ran my own test on a house last year that I just applied the wax to half of the bad side but I am still waiting on results.
Here is how we sell it. We offer a premium house wash package that includes a spray on wax solution to inhibits mold and algae growth. With our premium package we back it up with a 2 year warranty for mold and algae growth. If it does grow back in 2 years we will come out and wash it for free. the premium wash is a 30% upcharge and we don’t do it all the time but some people really like the idea of the warranty so it’s a pretty good upsell.
It is applied pretty quickly by downstreaming followed by a quick rinse
Gotcha. We give a 1 year warranty on a standard wash, so it probably wouldn’t really fly for us anyway…
I offer the plexmaster too. It’s a silicone based spray on and rinse product. It seems to help a little. Extended time between washes on a house I normally do yearly by about 3 months but doesn’t really prevent pollen or dust from settling, so if home has porches or a lot of railings, not a lot of help. I charge about the same upcharge 25-30% but have very few takers. Then again I don’t push it hard.
We have it built into our quoting software responsibid so it is offered to everyone and some people just like to spend the extra money for the warranty. But yeah we only warranty for algae not dirt
Same here
