Application Suggestions

Hello Pressure Wash family!

Any suggestions on how to deal with this? I’m wondering if I should run because the last time I attempted to clean wood under a deck I ended up dealing with this SUPER STRONG chemical smell that messed me up for a day or so lol AND all the green still didn’t come out !!

If it were me I’d use a REALLY sticky surfactant lol, and maybe a 12v or pump up sprayer for those bricks !

I use hot water on wood…

I bet that works amazingly… I really need an 8gpm hot water skid lol.

Oh ok! What you suggest? Product wise? Unfortunately I don’t have a hot water machine just really nice 4gpm Honda

Bleach will cause discoloring in this particular situation right?

Some of the guys on here like using an array of surfactants, some are more “sticky” than others… If it was me, softwashing the underside of a deck like that, I’d try the business as usual approach and if that didnt work, I’d maybe try a surfactant used for roofing so the mix stays and clings better (and that’s assuming the surfactant is the issue) if you use a super sticky soap and the green still dont come out then maybe you need to go hotter? Tread carefully tho, I dont have to tell you what will happen to that wood if you spray it with a super hott mix and let it sit too long. Hopefully this helps a little, I’m still in my first year of softwashing or “downstreaming” so I’m far from being a seasoned master. Lol.

I only have a 4gpm hit box that i use with my 4gpm pw

Go over to pressuretek.com and check out their chems… they got some good stuff. I’m not too too knowledgable on the process of decks but there are a lot of threads here about decks. Some of the guys use a multi stage process to do decking, like chemicals to strip the deck, then chems to wash it, then chems to neutralize the wood and brighten it, followed by a post wash and rinse… SOME of these fellas even seal it the next day ! At the end of the day, I guess it all just depends on what you’re trying to accomplish and the customers expectations

@Ikii so I can do the same ? I havent looked into hott water AT ALL as of yet. Once I finish researching all the roof cleaning stuff I been reading, im gonna start reading up on hot water. But if i could just buy something to add to my rig that gives my 4gpm machine hot water, that would be awsome. Lol. Because 8gpm hot water skids are a fortune. Not that i mind… because i actually have the funds to do whatever i want, however i still want to be careful, and smart about it haha.

Use a normal to hot mix and build up if needed. Be careful of the brick, if you get a mix with any surfactants near it you may end up with bubbly wall for a month or two. I personally would use a pump up sprayer if you don’t have a 12v so that the over spray isn’t as bad.

both units are about 8 yrs old

I want one of those !!! Just found next springs investment. Hahaha.

SH should get it done

Wow that is what I call I dream setup!!

Last time I used SH on the wood it ended up looking faded with a whitish haze

Nice!!! Now all I need to do is come up with $1600 hehe, hopefully next upgrade, I’m definitely a rookie in the PW scene, cleaning for Less than a year

That’s ok you need the good equipment anyway. So when you buy, buy once cry once.

I would personally use a 4% solution and rinse once the brick is free of green, maybe even several applications.

It’s underneath. Who cares what it ends up looking like. Whenever you use SH on wood, follow with oxalic acid to neutralize and brighten. Check out @Racer’s deck thread. He’s my mentor. There is some questionable advice going on around here so stick with the classic posts and more experienced teachers. NOW, MORE THAN EVER YOU SHOULD USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION.
