Anyone know what brand pump this is?

8 GPM machine for sale. I cannot tell what brand this pump is with the “gold crown”. Is it any good? It’s a belt drive Pressure Pro unit with the Honda GX670 V-twin and this pump:

Definitely a GP. I believe the Honda GX670 has been out of production for a while, so it may have some years on it.

Edit: looks like gx670’s are still out there.

Thank you. :+1:

It’s not a new machine. I just attempted first contact with the guy, so right now I’m waiting to hear back. I’ve been watching it for a couple of weeks or so.

Anything I should be especially watchful for?

Take it for a drive. Make sure it does what it’s supposed to do if you’re going to rely on it. Everything breaks down & it always happens at the worst time. I started with a brand new Kohler that gave me issues from day one. A used GX390 & a new GP direct drive never gave me the first issue. Rode hard & put up wet every day. It’s a pig in a poke any way you look at it. Use & abuse will be obvious at a glance. Does it have an hour meter?

Not sure yet. Still waiting to hear back from initial contact.

If you plan on being in the game for a while & you can swing the coins, a fresh rig would be your best option. Starting small & making upgrade after upgrade costed me more than I have in my current rig in the long haul & finally, I don’t have to spend my downtime troubleshooting issues. If it runs awesome & you have confidence it’ll take care of you, I would at least plan on a full tune up; fresh oil, air filter, spark plugs, belts, adjust valves, etc… especially if the hours are unknown. That’s not a homeowner rig, so ask why they are selling it & be ready to put your running shoes on if you smell a fish. And ask in person.

yeah…

Looks like you’ve been on the red team for a while. You get bit?

“Should I drive 3 hrs each way to look at this?”

$2k down to $1,800. It’s about a 3hr drive-each way. The description is: “This is a great pressure Washer just way more than I need for my business”. He says he has a landscaping company and has offered the PWing as an additional service, but hasn’t had much call for it. Said that he bought it used about 3 yrs ago. Had it checked over when he bought it. Comes with a 200+ gal tote and the plumbing from it to the PWer. There’s nothing wrong with it and works good. Pictures:

it’s likely the interpump tsf2021 version. but yes general pump.

I inherited a fleet of Kohlers… problem after problem. They can’t even keep a muffler attached… The only ones on a truck now are the secondary PW on the truck (always with a Honda)

Best I can tell it’s at least a 18yo unit by the dates on the label.

I thought that also, but apparently it’s newer than the 2006. Those are apparently some kind of changes or standards that are also on much newer GX670.

I appreciate your response though. I got the answer to: “what brand pump this is?” and tried to change it into a “Should I drive 3 hrs each way to look at this?” thread. Been wondering if I should start a new thread for that specific question…???

Thoughts people?

Only you can answer that. There are certain problems that can be solved either through deductive reasoning or simple formulas. I’ve been a big fan of a cost benefit analysis for years and do many of my purchases that way.

Since I am bored, I will elaborate on a few key issues:

4000(new unit)-1800 (used)=2200 savings. 2200-201 =$1,999 (300 miles at .67 a mile) $1999- 350 (7 hours at $50 an hour)=$1649. Oil filter, oil, gas filter, gas, spark plug costs (I was taught when you buy equipment, the first thing you do is drain all the fluids and replace with new and new filters). Lets guesstimate that cost at $110. $1649-110=1539. IF the battery isn’t good, well, that is another $100 or more $1539-$100 = 1439. This is your potential savings IF and only IF the unit doesn’t have any issues and works flawlessly for a year. That is what you have to answer for yourself.

Here is a con, and it could be big. You pay $1800, then change the fluids, plug, filters etc, pay yourself and mileage, start it up and it works for 2 weeks then the pump goes. Now you are out $1800, plus all the other expenses. Yes you could replace parts, but if you knew that going it would your price still be $1800?

IN the end it is a crap shoot. That is why I like my top end to be 50 percent of new, minus my expenses.

Are you set on 8 gpm? I’ve got a 5.5 2500 that I’m thinking of parting with sooner then later… what region are you in?
