Anyone clean Pool covers?

I’m doing a surface cleaning around a pool tomorrow. Customer just asked if I could wash the pool cover. What do you guys use? In the past I have just used dish soap and a brush.

While it’s on the pool or off?

On the pool. It’s a retractable cover

Gotcha. Is it the type that goes past the pool’s edge? I was a pool boy many moons ago and I don’t really remember the retractable covers getting very funky. Course that was in West Texas so YMMV. I’d think try exactly what you said and maybe rinse with a soap tip in one direction.

Yes, it’s got a little funk from the winter. Up in Indiana, they can get pretty nasty. I wasn’t going to use the power washer. I am worried about removing the UV protection.

Good luck and let us know what you figure out!

I’d probably just use house wash mix, let dwell, and rinse with low pressure. You could probably increase the sh a little if need be. If there’s any risk of getting any in the pool I’d leave the surfactant out.

Where abouts in West Texas?

Mainly panhandle area. We did a bunch of work around Candian and on into Amarillo, Lubbock, etc.

Would the SH damage the UV protection?

Please excuse any typing mistakes.

I have no clue. Maybe find out the manufacturer and call them and ask for their recommendation on how to clean.

This. Call the manufacturer.

Surfactant hurts the pool water?

As little as we use in our mix I doubt it would hurt anything. I just figure the less soap in a pool the better.

Are they using pool shock in the water?
