Any Texas residental businesses owners?

I looked through some previous posts but didnt really see anything that pertained to my area & question.

Im in the early stages of starting a pressure washing business and ive come to my first hurdle i cannot seem to figure out. Ive reached out to my local and state depts on guidelines on what i need in terms of permits and licenses and received this statement in an email from the state.

“The state requires that you properly manage and dispose of the wastewater. The wastewater generated from your activities may not enter any storm drains, ditch, or onto the ground and may not be routed to a septic system. Whatever method you use must have the ability to recover the wash water and be disposed of at the local Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The local WWTP may have pretreatment requirements for disposal of wash water, so be sure to contact them to discuss these requirements before you begin pressure washing.”

Primarily the work I want to do is fence, deck, and driveway cleaning, however if Im understanding this email correctly, Im in trouble. When cleaning fences and decks how is it even possible to reclaim the water?? When you clean driveways, is the water that needs to be reclaimed only the water that would make its way to the stormdrain? Additionally, when it states that water cannot enter “onto the ground” would that be considered dumping my reclaimed onto the ground or does that mean ANY water that was used to clean? My initial solution was to use sand bags to block off the curb but im not sure if thats enough and looking around, it seems that if i want any system, itll cost thousands and thousands ls of dollars. And even if i did purchase one, id have to constantly be taking it to a treatment facility which i image would be VERY time consuming.

Does anyone here have any prior or current experience with running a pressure washing business in Texas? If so, do you mind sharing your wisdoms?! Thank you…

It’ll be helpful to know where you’re located in TX.

You can think the orgs for those excessive restrictions. Houston was a nightmare after the orgs and reclaim vendors submitted those BMPs. I’m not sure how you could wash a house and not have water hit the ground.

Ah Amarillo. Man, just go wash.

@TexasPressureWashing should have some idea…

Depends on your city and county. In Houston residential washing doesn’t require reclaim but commercial does. Funny thing is the city waives it immediately when they want a job done so they don’t have to pay for it.

Hey! Thank you for the reply, I really appreciate it!
I’ll reach out again for clarification as to if its commercial or residential that needs reclamation. I know Houston and Austin are very strict on it so if they (Houston at least) doesnt require it for residential then hopefully neither will these smaller towns. That email kinda had me scared there for a bit :laughing: Again, thank you for the imput.

Thanks a ton!
