Adding Tax to Jobs

I recently called the premier company in my area (Perfect Power Wash) just to see what their pricing was at and found out that they charge tax on their house washes? Is there anyone else out there doing this?

In My state you’re supposed to tax any service. I know there’s a good amount of guys in landscaping, irrigation, etc around here that won’t charge tax on cash payments sometimes and just don’t report it… Not myself by any means, that’s against the law, and I’ve always been known to follow those.

I’ve been adding tax to my prices but it such a pain in the ass because some people don’t realize they have to pay tax and are suprised by the “extra” cost. So now I tell people the price is $124 not including tax. Still pain the ass so next year I’m going to provide price with tax included for new customers. Best part is NJ sales tax is $00.6875. Do that in your head.

I guess it depends what state you are in. In Texas you must collect sales tax. In Houston it is 8.25%.

Who pays TAXES??? :grinning:

Thankfully services of this type aren’t taxable in Georgia, yet.
They tried changing it a decade or so ago, and had some pushback.
