Hi all, my 8gpm keeps on surging. I narrowed it down to either being not enough water supply or my unloader. I have been having this issue since I first started using it. I’m still under a 100 hours. I have a k7 unloader and I’ve been reading that if I kinked the bypass and the surging stops I could see if it’s my unloader that’s causing the issue. I did that today and I noticed it stopped. This only occurs when I’m off the trigger. I cut my water supply hose so it’s shorter distance to my power washer and has not helped. I adjusted the pressure on the unloader and it stops surging only when I’m under 200 psi and obviously I can’t wash with that. I use a 1 inch crush proof hose with a 40 mesh filter. Water flow seems fine there. I really am thinking it’s not a water supply issue and maybe an unloader issue. I was considering even putting a 12 volt to pump water into the pump for better supply, but I don’t think that’s the issue. Any suggestions? All I know is that when I kink my bypass hose on the k7 it actually stops, which surprises me and maybe I need a smaller/bigger bypass hose? (also took out the numbered office from the unloader to see if it helped and nothing)
I’m having a similar issue except I get a very slight ‘stutter’ like the pump isn’t getting enough water or air is getting to the pump despite my tank being full. I may adjust my unloader to see if it clears up.
Just figured out a surging issue I wad having in my 8 gpm. After the pump is a y valve to my primary line and a shorter line. Apparently the valve no longer closes fully and it was causing a trickle so small into the other line that it wasn’t even noticeable. Until it’s fixed, i just fill the secondary line with water right away and all is good.
All that to say, check for leaks, even small ones make a big difference.
What size hose are you using for your bypass line? The k7s will surge/stutter in bypass if the bypass hose is to large, they need some back pressure on the line.
I use a 1/2 inch, but should I go smaller? I took the whole fitting off and ran it while it shot water out and it still surged. So the only the thing I’ve seen stop it at all was when I kinked it.
I would try a section of 3/8 hose and see if that fixes it.
