8gpm Plumbing and Flow Pro Questions

Hey guys I have read through similar threads and im not finding the answer I’m looking for. Apologies if this is redundant.

I’m finally upgrading to an 8gpm 3500 belt drive machine assembled with Honda and GP. I plan to run 50’ of 1/2” down to another 200’ of 3/8”. 1” water supply line. About 5’ long. And 3/8” whip to reel. Will running my pressure hose this way mitigate friction loss and how will this set up affect daily workability?

Setting up the Flow Pro as well. Should I opt for 3/8” or 1/2” bypass? Also is the 3/8” hose reel whip sufficient?

I don’t understand your logic for running a 3/8" bypass but running 1/2" hose for the first 50’ - how does that make sense at all?

But, I didn’t know the first 50’ of the hose on the reel would really make that much of a difference…does it in your experience? Happy to learn from you but I’m sorry to say I can’t actually answer any questions other than to question the logic of the first part of your question.

Well, I have the K1 unloader bypassing through (I think) a 3/8” to tank, then the whip to my reel and 100’ of 3/8” then another 50’. I never use over 2500psi so ‘friction loss’ doesn’t really apply in my case.

On a side note I have discovered the K1 seems to help prevent hose blowout. I have the FlowPro actuator on order.

I’d say either go with all 1/2” plumbing between the pump —> unloader —> reel, or don’t bother with any and just do 3/8” plumbing for everything. 1/2” hose doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me if you’re already restricting the flow prior to the reel.

I do prefer to have my bypass valve on the straight-thru, and not the 90° though. I can share a pic of my layout this weekend if you want.
