8gpm machines, what do you suggest

Started in 21’ with a 4gpm. Last year upgraded to a 5.5 tsf2021 with a gear drive on the same gx390 motor.

Wanting to either build or buy a a 8gpm. Not sure on specific brands that are the most reliable. I hear mixed reviews on igx or gx 690s or 800s. Kohlsrs, predators, or crx.

Suggestions? Certain machines to stay away from?

There are no ‘mixed reviews’ with the GX 690’s. They are as solid as they come. That being said they are being phased out for the iGX fuel injected versions which are a lot more complicated and reportedly thirsty.

I hear the 800s are faulty at times. But I do see that people wish they went with the 800 for the extras HPs over the 690s.

Bought a bunch of 690s over the last year+, all running like a champ. We’ve been getting ours from Johnathan @ North Georgia Airless. Only issues have been minor electrical system glitches

I will say those have all been bought to phase out our fleet of 2020/2021 Kohlers (CH730s maybe?) which were nothing but trouble all the time.

Don’t trust videos you see on YouTube or whatever. The 630/690 units are plenty adequate to push 8gpm pumps. I can’t speak for the bigger operators on here but I’ve never needed more than 2500psi for concrete and resi washes. I can see the 800 being useful for a 10gpm pump.

Who do you hear say that? This is a professional pressure washer forum and I have not once in my reading seen anything like that from guys on here.

My 690 is hooked up to an udor pump that has 9 or 9.5 gpm capability but downloaded for less wear and tear. I am not everyone, but I havent had any issues with it at all in the 2 seasona since been running it and never thought to myself “dang I need more”

If anything at times this thing is overkill :joy:
