525 tank towing

Guys with large tanks do you tow full, half, or empty and just fill up onsite?

What are you pulling with? That’s around 4200 lbs full.

Ram 1500 tow capacity is 8440 my rig fully loaded is 7000lbs give or take a few hundred pounds

I have a 525 leg tank on my flat bed, I don’t drive with it more then 200gallons too much water roll/bad gpm

Most i tow down the road is 150ish. When im on site and need to tow around a lot ill fill to max. But you can put corrugated pipe in your tank and it will act as a baffle system. I also tow with a ram 1500 and anything over 150 it sloshes too much.

Thank you for the advice

How has the 1500 treated you? A lot of folks say 3/4 ton is the best, but I prefer to stay as lean as possible.

With a 525 gallon tank by the time you add in the weight of the water, equipment, and weight of the trailer you’re going to be pushing the max weight of a dual axle trailer if you have 3500 lb axles which seem to be the most common on utility trailers. That would also be a workout for a 1/2 ton truck. I would definitely use at least a 3/4 ton if you’re pulling that weight everyday and also make sure the trailer has brakes. Some states require all commercial trailers to have brakes regardless of size so something to check into.

Most I tow with is 200lbs. I tow with a 1 ton dually, just because I like to know that I can tow what’s behind me without any problems.

My trailer dual axel is 5200, but without water in the tank I’m only pulling around 3000

It has done great… i use the 1500 as it and my trailer keeps me under the 10k combined weight as i cross state lines so i dont need a DOT number. But hauling it does fine
