Saturday either Richt and the Peww or Mullen and the water possums are taking a Loss. Once again college football is back and I have something to watch on saturdays when I’m not working.

Last Saturday was officially the last one without college football on TV. I always wat h some of the week 0 games just to catch the crazy stuff that inevitably happens in those games. This is week 0 so there should be some calamity that happens between those tiny schools.

Yeah, there was a ton of buzz around Austin at that time. Rumors spreading about him house shopping and whatnot. Ultimately, it wasn’t just Mack Brown that squandered that opportunity. There was a very influential regent that created some apparently insurmountable barriers and it fizzled out almost as quickly as it started. And then we got Charlie Freaking Strong. Great guy, great defensive mind, terrible head coach. He recruited okay but his staff never developed ANYONE. He brought in Sterlin Gilbert as the OC and he ran the veer and shoot offense where basically if you don’t score a TD on your first 4 plays we were dead in the water. Definitely not sustainable.
I love the staff we have now. Tom Herman has surrounded himself with some of the greatest coaches and analysts in the business and Texas is definitely trending upwards. I won’t say we’re “back” until we bring home another title. Until then, we just need to focus on going 1-0 as Coach Herman says.

Is that what y’all call the Gators? I don’t watch a lot of SEC ball but I was a big Tebow fan so I did watch quite a bit of them back in the day. That guy always seemed like a genuinely good dude. Lots of folks compare Texas’ QB Sam Ehlinger to him.
One of my Cajun captains called one that working deep water horizon. Idk if it was just him or a Cajun thing. Tebow is the only gator I’ll ever stand.

Every Bama fan I knew swore up and down he was never going. Now they’re asking how long until Dabo takes his job.

Oh, he was definitely kicking around the idea. I mean, Texas does have a lot to offer that most schools don’t. At the time though our facilities were outdated and being overlooked. The AD then was an old curmudgeon stuck in his ways and unwilling to get with the times. Now, we have one of the best AD’s in the country and the donations are pouring in like never before. All of the facilities are being upgraded and not just for football. It seems like we had to wander the desert for almost a decade before anyone decided it was time to really make a change.
Dabo not going anywhere. He loves it here.

If he beats “Satan” enough, I guarantee you Alabama opens up the checkbook and tests that theory.
I like ol Dabo though, awesome guy strong moral character, and a heck of a coach.

I’m a huge fan of most the teams around here, unless they’re playing Clemson. But if you’re a college football fan, got to love it here. I’m within 5 hours of the habitual top 5 teams in the country. There are a lot of great teams in this region that on any given day can beat the other. I could care less about most the pro teams when I’ve got the college ball.

I think Texas is poised to take over the Big 12 for a good long while now. The word on the street is Lincoln Riley will be the Dallas Cowboys’ head coach by this time next year so there is already some uneasiness in Norman. I haven’t heard this much chirping from OU fans since 2004 when Texas began it’s great run with one national championship and playing for another. That tells me they’re seeing the shift in momentum and it’s making them nervous. Hurts is a good QB but he’s not even in the same conversation as Mayfield and Murray. I was warning other Texas fans about Kyoer Murray the day I heard he transferred to OU. That kid is the best quarterback to ever play Texas HS football and that is saying something! In the right scheme, height doesn’t matter. He’ll do well with the Cardinals under Kingsbury.

The NFL sucks nowadays. Too much political BS for me. I hardly even watch the Cowboys play and I’ve really grown into more of a Saints fan anyhow. I barely watch them either.
I’ve never seen a football game so I can’t follow this but, go in the woods or on a river instead of watching sports in TV and I’ll guarantee you’ll have a better time
