3.5 to 8 GPM - Commercial flatwork cleaning speed increase?

If you tell me you don’t eat peanut butter and mayo sandwiches wr can’t be friends.

No worries, I’m not a food Nazi, but if you ever let me cook you some good New Mexican food, you’d probably put on sandals and head West in search of culinary nirvana…

What is New Mexican. I lived in Tuscon I the early 70’s but only remember eating at a Sambo’s there

Well, Sambos was a pancake house. I loved Sambos!

New Mexican food is a combination of authentic Mexican food with an Indian (Native American) flair. I was born and raised in New Mexico and we lived on red and green chili dishes. New Mexican food includes blue corn tortillas, stacked enchiladas, and sopaipillas (Indian fry bread). It’s very spicy, but not just hot for the sake of hot, spicy flavorful.

The only thing I have ever found close is Cajun food which I ALSO LOVE

You’ve only been there for 16 years. You’re still a foreigner or even worse, a Yankee.

Is there any reason for this apart from being able to “run” behind the machine? I know the rule of thumb is 4 inches for every gpm but I am thinking that is for people who want huge SCs and have to be brought back down to earth/reality.

I’ve recently started pressure washing driveways with the goal of getting better equipment quickly and learning softwashing/roof cleaning in the process. I have a 4k/4gpm belt drive gx390 and general pump setup right now. While it works well, it is definitely used and I’ve been thinking of putting a 5.5gpm unit at the top of my upgrades list. There are a host of other things I need to research before I just jump into a unit like that but, I would want to keep my current 16" SC in hopes of it just being more efficient and me being able to move quicker with the 5.5. It is nice to see you running much smaller SCs than your 8gpm unit “can” run.

That is the only way to cook cornbread.

You might be able to tell us something about washing…but you can’t tell us squat about cooking cornbread.

At a guess I would say maneuverability.

The 4 inch post gallon notion is pushed by vendors trying to sell more equipment. I do a lot of breezeways and need something i can carry with with one hand while spraying water and walking up steps. Even doing sidewalks though, much bigger them 20 inches at 8 gpm is going to slow you down in regards to effeciency. Will a 8 gpm spin a 24 or 30 inch surfacer? Sure, but the guy with the 8gpm and 19 inch will out wash every day it every day of the week.

I’m all for cornbread in a skillet. That crazy @Steve and his New Mexican diet likes it square though i believe lol

Do you get any lift or hover of the cover with 4 tips @ 8gpm ?

None whatsoever with an elbow on the swivel.

I think it really depends where you are and what kind of work you are doing. I’m in New Mexico, doing commercial flatwork, we don’t really deal with mold, algae, etc., do to the climate. I run a 36 inch surface cleaner off my 8 gpm machine and can move pretty quick. Only time I have to slow down is in on really greasy areas.

With that being said, I would say 36 inch would be too big if dealing with heavier stuff in a more humid environment.
