2nd Unloaded issue

Hey guys… First off much respect to all ya’ll. I never knew there was so much more to it than just buying a pressure washer lol. With that being said I’m trying to get my gig up and running. I’m still dialing in everything. The only issue I’m currently having is with the second unloader.

  1. When using the gun all is well. Running between 3000 - 3500 psi and the unloader is working. No water is coming out the unloader until I release the trigger. So far so good.

  2. When using the surface cleaner “18”. It’s running at 3000psi. This issue I’m having is I still have some water coming out of the unloader while using the surface cleaner.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

What size pump are you running?
What size nozzles are in your surface cleaner?

When you say “water coming out the unloader” are you meaning it’s bypassing?

Thanks for the quick reply.
The pump is a toolcy 4.2.
The surface cleaner:
Amazon.com: 18" Pressure Washer Surface Cleaner, Driveway Power Washer Attachment with Dual Handle, 4 Replacement Nozzles, 3/8", 1/4" QC, M22-14/15 Adapter, MAX 4000PSI for Concrete, Patio, Deck Cleaning : Patio, Lawn & Garden)

It appears everything (including the hose) on the surface cleaning is 1/4. My gut tells me this is the issue. I’m about to place my order for a 3/8 hose and 3/8 quick connects. Hopefully this is the issue

And you are correct. I meant bypassing.

If you look at the surface cleaner bar, there are two nozzles, what are their sizes? There should have a set of numbers stamped on the side of them. If they aren’t properly sized for your machine and are too restricting then the extra flow from your pump is getting bypassed.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll check it first thing in the morning. Thanks again buddy…

yes undersized nozzles and 1/4 hose need to be addressed

Thanks guys. I will have some free time tomorrow

I finally got around to it today. I changed the hoses and quick connects. I’m still having the same issue. The nozzles are not stamped with the size, so I contacted the vendor. This was their response “25 Degree Surface Cleaner Tips, 2.5 Orifice, 4000 PSI”

I’m open to all suggestions. Thanks again guys for the help.

The working pressure on that surface cleaner is 3,200 PSI, but with 200 ft. of pressure hose, seeing around 3,000 PSI at the gun adds up. It is also oversized for your pump, and the nozzles appear proprietary. If it’s still within the return window, I’d send it back and go with a name-brand 16" surface cleaner, or at the very least, get one that accepts 1/4 MEG nozzles.

Thanks for the tips. Would having a 100ft of pressure hose make any difference? Appreciate it sir

At 4 GPM you’ll lose about 90psi for every 100ft of hose. So it’ll improve, but not substantially.
