1st request to wash house + outbuildings for paint prep... advice?

Friend of mine has a quite large old home with several smaller buildings - office, garage, 2 sheds.

Vinyl siding with wood trim and some aluminum trim involved.

They plan to hire a painter to paint the wood trim and one of the sheds.

The rest just seems to be cleaning the exterior surfaces.

I have seen “walk away from aluminium” on here a lot, would that include aluminum trim?

Not done any pre-painting house washes in my past, they have all been we just want our house cleaned up jobs.

Would it make sense to have the painter do the trim first, and then wash the buildings after the painting is done? or do all the washing before the trim gets painted.

I do not yet know local painters, at least ones I would refer to anyone.

Probably go see it Tuesday morning if the rain stops.

Do the house wash like you normally do but all the wood trims and shed you might have to do wash it with a green or yellow tip which most likely mean you will be ladder climbing.

My sugestion would be to use a bigger size orifice tip than what your pressure washer requieres.

For example: if you have a 4 gpm pump use a size 25080 or 25100. If theres mold or mildew or loose paint you gotta remove it. Dont go too overboard as the painters (if they are worth their salt) will have to sand it anyways before they paint it.

Also please be very careful when you are on the ladder with your gun. Remember theres always a kickback when you press the trigger so make sure you are always sure footted on the ladder. No need to fall down and hurt yourself.
