12v pump unreliable

I’ve been buying the Everflo 5.5’s for a while now and they only seem to last me abt a month a piece, I am always sure to run straight water through after I am done for the day. Does anyone have any tips or a better/more reliable brand?

Rinse it out with at least 5 gallons of water immediately after each use. Rinse it out after each job and not at the end of the day. If that doesn’t help try switching brands.

I’ve been doing that but still no luck, wanted to see if anyone had a brand they reccomend before I order another one. Could rain also be contributing to their demise? I try to cover them when it rains but my trailer is always sitting outside at night

I don’t believe rain would affect it at all and hasn’t is my experience. I don’t have a brand to suggest, I use cheap Amazon ones but they last a while. That being said I don’t use em very often.

There are quite a few of us who use a Northern Tool 5.5 gpm pump. It has outlasted my 7 gpm Delavan and I use it more. I know @Racer has had good luck with them too and recommends them.

Rain won’t hurt it. I have 6 or 7 of the NT one’s in operation, one being a dedicated SH pump that gets used every day. Probably at least a year old and sits out in weather. I do run 4-5 gal of water thru after each use.

Make sure you don’t have any air leaks on the inlet side which would lead to excessive cycling and pre-mature damage of the pump.

@Racer you use the specific northern tool bleach pump or just the regular one @marinegrunt linked?

I just use the regular ones. With my coupons I get periodically from NT and when they put on sale I can usually get for around $125ish.

Where would one be able to find these coupons?

But something from them or setup an account. They send them out about every other month or so. They send a $5, 10, $20. Over a $100 purchase you can use the $20. So like on the 5.5 pumps they run on sale periodically for like $139. So with coupon it’s like 119.
