Ok guys, my first thread starter, and video. I hope I am posting in the right place. I am testing the waters here…lol
So, I finished my softwash setup this afternoon. I’m using a 5.5 gpm everflo pump, 1/2" flexzilla hose, 50’, and an 18" × 1/2" diy wand I made. I am just using a regular ole Walmart Ever Start battery. I tested all my pw tips, and the one the shot the farthest, was the Pink second story tip I got from Amazon. I tested it a few times, and each time I was hitting the top of my burn barrel. Pretty proud of myself now lol

Well done. It doesn’t have to be pretty as long as it works and makes money. I’d suggest getting some cam lock fittings for the inlet and outlet so you can quickly and easily attach and detach the hoses in case of a pump failure. You can get them locally at places like Tractor Supply, Orscheln’s Farm and Home, Atwood’s, etc., or you can obviously find them online. I have a pvc ball valve wand as well but I don’t like using it near as much as a Gilmour gun with the adapter to run quick connect fittings. When you are falling off a ladder the last thing you want to have to worry about is SH going everywhere since your ball valve is still wide open.
On a side note, you’ve spent some good time here reading and learning. Way to go. Keep that up and you’ll be dangerous in no time!

Ok, got a picture uploaded, thought it was the video of the test. My phone saves videos in mp4, and I can’t figure out how to convert it to upload…any suggestions? Thanks Ronda
That’s way out of my league. The resident nerds will be by shortly to help you out.

@DisplacedTexan Thanks man, I sure appreciate it. I am fired up and ready to get working, doing last minute details so I can hit the ground running lol. Great idea on the cam locks, and I have been seeing alot of y’all are using the Gilmore guns. Thanks for the confidence!!

If your not using a reel be sure to not yank on the hose too hard, could rip the fitting out of the pump, at long distance doesn’t take much.

No worries. If you want to try out the Gilmour gun you can go to the store and get a water pressure gauge like pictured below and unscrew the fitting from it and screw a male 1/4" quick connect to it and you’re ready to go.

Thanks, I’ll definitely have to give that a look and figure out how to keep from pulling on the connection. Temporarily, I can tie it off to the side rail. Appreciate you bringing that to my attention.

Will do, I’d like to try that out. I’ve also noticed alot of people say lead with the male connector. It seems to make sense, so I’m in the process of reversing the connectors on my sc and wand. I’ll tell y’all, I knew “0” about any of this stuff a couple months ago. I know I appreciate y’all sharing your information with us newbies. And I have become addicted to getting on this forum, and learning something new everyday!
Once you put females on both sides of the gun there’s no reason that I’ve found for a ball valve. Let off the trigger and change to your SC, change nozzles, etc

My surface cleaner has its own gun built in and it’s all 3/8 plumbing so no gun is going to connect to that.

Mine came with its own gun too. I pulled it and replaced it with a male qc fitting

@DisplacedTexan my sc has built in gun also, and it is 3/8 also. Ok, so I am assuming you lead with the female end, starting at the outlet on the pump?
@Jake_Lambert my sc connector is male. Yours was female?
No. Everything is male leading from the outlet of the pump. My ball valve just has females on both ends like @Racer has his set up. I find it works great that way

Agreed, all male leading hoses. Where they use a ball valve with females on both sides, I use a gun with females on both sides. Skips a step, I don’t have to turn off a valve to pop my gun off and hook up to a SC. I just keep the gun
