12.5% SH Box Truck Prevention

Adding roof cleaning to my services offered. Just bought the bandit and today I picked up a 125 gal chem tank for SH.

I’m going to use my box truck for the SH and was wondering what you all would recommend if anything for the wooden floor of bed. There’s bound to be some spills so any prevention ideas is what I’m after.

You’re going to need a tough coating like Rhino Liner.

If I am not mistaken, Rhino liner can be penetrated by certain Chems. Line X is what most people use. They spray a couple feet up the walls also.

Good catch.

It’s not just the floor you have to worry about. SH evaporates and will cause any metal even on the roof to rust. I had that experience when I used to work out of a E-350 work van. I would coat everything If I were you and make sure that tank is shut good when you are not using it.

I used a marine enamel from Sherwin Williams. It’s heavy duty but don’t remember what it was

Thanks for the suggestions. I was quoted $1450 for the Rhino and $750-800 for Line X. Soooo…leaning towards the industrial marine enamel. I’m sure that’d be significantly more affordable.

Hey man, did you do that? How did it work? I have a box truck and I need to store some SH

The SH tank should have a tube to fill it and pump SH out. It should have a sealed vent that leads out of the trailer via tubing

I have almost never seen anyone running a vent tube for their SH but that does make a ton of sense.

No but you have seen a boat load of trailers that have rusted out way before they should. Spills are another thing people don’t think about. After all its only a couple drops right? People will spend 800 bucks to line x their trailer but won’t vent their tanks properly or clean up small spills immediately… Just seems counter productive to me…

I had never even thought about venting the tanks until i saw someone post a video of it last year. I immediately copied the set up. I wish I could give credit to him. It was someone in the north west that sells soft wash pumps kits i believe. Anyway, a month later my shop flooded and I lost all my trucks and replaced them with service and flat beds. I’m sure the concept was sound though.

Your thinking of Kevin over there at peak of perfection…
Works for regular trailers and flat beds too… Although it is not as apparent as it is with an enclosed trailer.
