1/4" max GPM/Flow Rate

I’m looking at using this foot valve for a project I’m working on. https://www.generalpump.com/product/dfv5010/ The item says that it is rated for 10 GPM but it also states that the outlet is only .25". Can .25" hose flow 10GPM? I assume that if the fitting on the outlet is .25", adapting up to 3/8" hose wouldn’t help because the .25" fitting would still be the choke point? Can anyone help. Thank you all!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t the fittings on the end of pressure washing guns 1/4" ?

Yep, they are. Don’t know how it would preform going through an extended length of 1/4 hose though

I guess thats true. Im only going to have about 6’ hose after foot valve and lance will be .25" so it will be fine. Not sure what I was thinking… Thanks for the responses.

Completely reasonable question. What is the project you say your are getting in to if you don’t mind me asking

Fluid flow is not like a chain. The weakest link does not necessarily dictate overall flow rate. Just think about how tiny the opening is in a downstream injector.

You can step back up to 3/8” after that valve and probably only suffer very minor flow/pressure loss from the smaller valve internals.
