White stains on brick/rust stains on granite steps/siding

Oh what the ball busting only goes one way??

Appreciate the response. And after reading all these responses I probably will be backing out of this. Yeah I’m inquisitive, I ask questions here, on Reddit, at my local shop, on YouTube comments, you name it. I’ve gained a ton of info and got more work than I would’ve expected this quickly and have started to gain some real experience. This crap started because I said “I don’t think saying no to jobs bc I’m slightly uncomfortable is a great game plan.” Or something along those lines half the shot here is people belittling one another hey if I call someone grandpa it’s game over for me.

I would give my soul to be a grandpa. The point some are trying to make, and I may be wrong, is that you come across as rude and abrasive, but think others are being rude when they give opinions that you sought out. I hope you bid and get the job.

Let’s start over, what is your background and experience? For all we know you are a 25 year veteran like @Innocentbystander.

Thank you

I would try and remove the rust on those steps, you can’t make them worse. Whoever put in those handrails ruined those steps and they are probably about 1000 each not including labor. The steps are all broken and the ones that aren’t will be in about another couple of freeze thaw cycles. You’ll need heat for the gum on the steps, and a degreaser for all that foot traffic and grease. Have them call a mason to fix them once they are cleaned up.

I tell all my customers the same thing. I can remove the rust, but it will come right back if you do nothing to fix the source of the rust.

The risk you take on to complete a job is a cost as well.

I need to get this embroidered on my pillows. Awesome advice.

I learned that one from the best @JAtkinson . All my good advice comes from what these guys have told me since I joined here and all my bad advice comes from cocktail napkins and dreams

Gee thanks…
I was going to say “don’t listen to me, I still know very little…” but I will say I know the business and handling clients stuff pretty well. If I give any wash or tech advice, I either got it from @Innocentbystander or @Racer , or I’m probably wrong

Yea it took me a few weeks to realize they weren’t some crazy old dudes that pull their rigs with a Brontosaurus. Turns out its some of the best advice I’ve ever received in this business, brontosaurus or not.
