What did you guys do for work before pressure washing?

I worked in a family owned pizza shop from about 5 to 15 years old then joined the military at 17. I’ve been doing that for the last 14.5 years and started in this industry about 1.5 years ago and can’t wait to go full time once I retire. There were some other little jobs in between pizza and military, but nothing to write home about.

Paint Manufacturing company in Florida 27 years

Computer Aided Draftsman at a Site Furnishings Company. Washing in the evenings and on weekends!

Many years of various office work. Went back to school for Finance, switched to horticulture, loved every minute of it. Spent 2 years in 2 different greenhouses with ridiculous bosses. Started pressure washing 9 years ago and couldn’t be happier. I’ve always wanted to have my own business since I was a kid and I’m living the dream now.

Concrete placing and finishing for 4 years, more decorative concrete work and paving installation for 2 years with a new company and then worked for a cleaning company that done everything including high pressure exterior washing

Currently an apprentice millwright full time at an aluminum die casting facility making car parts for places like Honda. Went to school originally for motive power (cars, internal combustion engines etc). Bought a small 2.6GPM unit to see if I can make some extra money on the side to reinvest and potentially grow the business… if not I’m sure I can still make some extra spending cash to put towards my wedding and a house!

Paint Manufacturing Co

USAF four years, window cleaning for 27 years, added PW four years ago. Slowly trying to ‘phase down’ the window cleaning as it makes 1/3 the money per man hour.

What amazes me about folks on here is the wide variety of what some would call ‘legitimate’ career fields, only to realize PW is so much more satisfying.

Who’d have thought that I’d leave Chicago and hate computer security, become boat captain of a whale watching tour boat, now working for the state ferry, and be trying to get into PW. Not me, that’s for sure. Life sure is funny sometimes.

God I hate that word. What is it? How do you know you’ve entered one? How do you know you’ve left one? Why isn’t it a job in exchange for currency? Lol

I like to think we can have more than a couple ‘careers’. Traditionally it meant 20+ years with a pension such as military or auto manufacturing, etc. I like to think my window cleaning has been a ‘career’ even though I won’t get a dime of retirement.
