What are some little things you always forget to have handy that I could get from Home Depot?

There’s technically no such thing as Teflon tape. Teflon is just a brand name. It is commonly associated with PTFE, but doesn’t specifically mean that. It’s just like the way Clorox is associated with bleach, but there are lots of Clorox products that don’t have any bleach in them. In the case of Clorox products, though, they actually have rights to the name. Nobody has actually ever legally made plumbing tape under the Teflon name. Nowadays, raw PTFE isn’t even sold under the name anymore.

Washed with the yellow metal thread lubricant tape and Tru Blu sealer tonight. Ball valve and swivel didn’t leak a single drop and it was marvelous. So awesome having the ball valve and the swivel attached was great too. Super happy I ordered those parts (and picked up the recommended sealant stuff from Home Depot).

Well now I know my next purchases. Not leaking now or anything, but preventative maintenance.

I know this is an old thread, but i came across it in my searches for info, so I’m sure others will as well.

I felt it important to correct the above post. Not all threads encountered when assembling a pressure washer are NPT. In fact, i my experience, most are actually BSP, either BSPT (tapered) or BSPP (parallel).

BSP and NPT fittings are not completely compatible.

It appears that most people here (and likely everywhere) just smush the NPT and BSP threads together, and that seems to work in general, but when i assembled my machine, i searched out the proper BSP <-> NPT fittings as needed.

My Udor BC18/20 has two female 1/2" BSPT ports, and my General Pump ZK-1 unloader has three 1/2" BSPP ports.

Of course its up to everyone whether you choose to smush the threads together or use proper adaptors. I wont hate on you if you dont, but i wanted to put that info out there in case it cam help someone out, as I’ve been helped greatly by this forum.
