Happens a lot on painted brick houses in Raleigh. No lie, almost never get this anywhere else in town. The worst is when we get a call hours after the service and the client tells us their porch is covered in bugs.
Next time I’d just rinse with water, and not spend too much time on it. Let the client know they have a bug problem and suggest a good exterminator (Triangle Pest, Clear Defense, etc.).
Good to know this isn’t super unusual. Client called their usual pest control service and got it taken care of.
It was a bizarre situation for me but the customer is happy so I’m happy. I really thought I was hallucinating when I first saw them lol
I dont post here anymore and only occasionally read since I never ended up going into business. But I wanted to say sorry for your loss. I guess it struck close to home as your son is only 5 days older than my son. I cant imagine.

boxelder bugs typically infest trees here in Pennsylvania, but yes also behind siding and shutters. I was with a contractor a few weeks ago and they were dealing lanternflies by far the worst bug problem I have ever seen!
