Thoughts on Running Spring Specials

I knew that was coming, and I agree with you completely.

Thing is, a new/different truck is absolutely out of the question for me right now. I left a full time job last year to do this full time, but I haven’t been on my own long enough for the bank to give me a loan yet.

I do keep it clean and presentable, it’s just not new and shiny.

Here’s a picture of it, minus the yet-to-be-installed signs

Would you recommend going ahead and putting it on my website once the signs are installed, or waiting until I can get something that looks more professional?

I would have a cheap white paint job done then some vinyl lettering and you will look the part IMO

No I don’t think it would be a bad idea, just don’t get some jacked up signage. Clean the rims & shine the tires

A truck without graphics is like a business card that’s printed on just 1 side…Wasted Marketing.

That’s a good suggestion! I have considered doing that, but the bedliner “paint job” would have to come off before the re-paint and lettering…the surface is too rough for anything to stick to! If I do strip it down, I’ll probably go with a wrap, like GuyB suggested.

I did a deal with Angieslist once… they promised me 50-60 sales and I ended up with only 7 thank god! First, they wanted me to offer the customer a 50% deal, then they take 30% for themselves which left me doing the work for a mere 35%!!!

And here’s the worst part, when the customer ordered the deal they paid Angieslist. It took me over 2 MONTHS to get paid from Angieslist!

Yeah…I was crazy to even consider going with that. I also realized this: They actively contribute to lowering prices for all contractors who use them…here’s how: They tell you “such and such company offered this price last month and got this many customers. If you beat offer a little bit lower price this month, you’ll get this many more customers”… Guess what their gonna tell the next guy who’s on their list to call when they get off the phone with you…

I have to say, some of my best, most loyal customers have come from AL, but THEY found me, I didn’t have to give away my services to find THEM.

You will never again see me mention the craziness that I did in my initial post here! This thread (thanks to the great advice from you guys) has really helped me get my head right for this spring and beyond.

Not only that but of the ones I got only ONE has called me back for services since that date 3 years ago. My normal customers I see once a year or maybe every other year. The people AL targets are always going to go for the deal and they don’t care who it is…
