Surface cleaner techniques

You still have to have the right tips in it for 4gpm, 2502 if its single rail.

Like snake on the old Nokia phones? Does that not take five years?

I don’t know but it probably takes longer than 5 years. Or at least as long as it will take you to talk me into using ppe while washing. I’ve never done it I just remember the post he’s talking about. I think it was a reply in one of his own threads he started when he first talked about having the striping issue.

Dang it somebody call @Clean_Blue and wake him up. We need to know if this works and does he charge a day rate for a normal driveway

You’ll wear that PPE @marinegrunt or you’ll get the wooden spoon again

I gotcha, so kinda like a sine wave pattern.

Are your nozzles lined up with the bar? I have ran my 26” with my back up 4gpm without issues. When putting the sh in 5 gal bucket, no need to dilute. It will get diluted as you downstream. Definitely post treat! It will clear the lines.

Here is the link to the method I mentioned for concrete. It’s to much to type again. Lol

@dcbrock is right. The surface cleaner cleans more on the outside of the sc so this method monopolizes on that.
I use to measure concrete and shoot for .25 a sq ft. I just eyeball it now.

@dcbrock guess it’s time to go and test the method.

I appreciate all the info

DS straight 12.5 SH, surface clean left to right, or right to left, never up and down, rinse, spray light coat of house wash mix. Leave

So y’all do it the way Grump described to create the illusion of no striping on a long driveway such as the one above? Or are there actually zero stripes when it’s time to collect check if done properly?

Maybe is the surface cleaners that are causing the problem. I use the Hydrotek ANT4C and it’s a single bar but each side has two nozzles about an inch apart. I never get stripes using the surface cleaner even when I was running it with my old 5 gpm machine and smaller tips. I had to walk pretty slow with it but didn’t get striping. Moving up to the 8gpm and bigger tips now I can walk pretty fast with it. 28 inch diameter.

I got rid of the pistol grip style, the mitm sc i picked uphas a wheel barrow style, straight handles. I like it better because I just hold on, its more natural stance and lean forward and walk. No more polishing motion for me. Its scary when it doesnt clean like we expect and as mentioned, but do as grump says and the answer will become clear.

Maybe our driveways are dirtier here, I’ve done everything I can think of to erase stripes including pre/post treating and it still happens. Using the ‘floor buffer’ method seems to mitigate that but it’s time consuming. Adding insult to injury I can only get about .10/sq ft here otherwise they get out their own $50 surface cleaner and Home Depot washer.

Things are definitely different here, even the ‘rich’ people will do something themselves even though they totally screw it up.

Wait. So are you shooting straight 12.5 SH on your surface or are you diluting that down to 5% including surfactant and water mix (aka pre-treat mix)? That sounds expensive if you are going straight.

Go perpendicular to the long axis of the driveway. It doesn’t eliminate striping but it will be much less obvious. SH is dirt cheap in FL compared to TX, hit it with a hot mix and it should get rid of the lines. Also look up the Dway cleaning video @Racer did. He put it on here but it’s also on his youtube channel. I made my subs watch it last summer.

Read it again . That’s not what he said.

He’s downstreaming 12.5%, so by the time it hits concrete the percentage is about 1% or less.
