I use them on the Turbo ones cause of dirty getting in.
I like them on my SC cleaner too, I placed them between the gun and the SC, in the middle of the shaft.
So far I like them there and they seem to work.
I actually tried that ‘circle’ method, took forever with my 16". Kinda hard to see if I got everything doing it that way but if someone was rinsing as I was cleaning it could probably be effective.
Seems to me you are in effect going over driveway 3x. Eecckk.

Reason Craig shows that method, if you’re getting ready to treat the drive with acid, then you sure can’t be post treating it with strong mix. It works and not that bad for small areas. I generally always use right at bottom of front stoop so that it looks really nice. Or if I’m going to be using acid for a rust stain, etc.
