Square vs venmo for markate

How many times have you been screwed over by customers that refuse to pay?

No I’m referring to purely electronic transfers, trusting whoever/whatever to do the right thing. We got hacked a few times in various ways.

I’m not sure that can even happen. The money is transferred from there bank to mine. Unless they hack my bank it doesn’t work. The only digital trail is my email, the same risk as signing up to this forum.

There are a lot of factors at play, but the biggest one is profit.

I am just guessing here, but what you are describing on your side is likely a service offered by the customer’s bank - pay someone by “whatever id/email/etc”, and on their back end they just do an ach transfer, which brings in much less profit than a credit charge does.

No bank/cc processor here wants to give up their profits to make things easy.

As for the other factors, well you been reading the forum for a while

Unfortunately, banks have the politicians in their pockets which will prevent them from ever losing money off the credit card fees. I don’t see ach ever becoming more available unless they’re able to charge those same fees. If it does happen they’ll likely charge more. You can thank our lousy congressman and women for that.
