Sodium Hypochlorite & Sodium Hydroxide

Glad to know your socks are actually clean, too bad your houses aren’t…wow look at all that chaulking you didn’t get rid of! FOR SHAME!

OKAY First I’ll say, I’m a certified firefighter extensively trained in hazmat, and former truck driver with 40 years experience including hazmat certification. Back in the 80’s when the EPA and our state DEP mandated new regulations concerning treatment of waste water from oil and gas well locations I was one of the first employees hired to treat and dispose of said water. It was always always extremely high in hydrochloric acid from fracking. We used sodium hydroxide to neutralize the acid. I carried 150 gallons on my truck which would treat pretty much all the water. If you got it on your skin you had only moments before it started melting your skin off. It will melt aluminum like gasoline in a styrofoam cup. The concentration was around 30 to 50 percent, depending on the time of year. It would jell up in the cold so they had to add as much as 70 percent water. We also used sodium tripoly phosphate to settle out the iron. I spoke to the chemical emergency hotline and they said they used the STP to clean bricks. A small amount of sodium hydroxide dripped onto my yard once and the ground sank about 2 inches and smelled like fresh manure. This stuff is nothing to mess around with if you don’t know what you’re doing.

That is brown stuff it comes from pressure works

Speaking of brown stuff have you gotten around to taking pics showing your concrete cleaning process? I remember @grizz asking about it I’d love to see it too.

Looks good. But honestly some house wash mix with a surface cleaner will get the same results.

But its looks good, so really user preference I guess.

Just depends on how much time you want to waste with that surface cleaner. Both worth great just another tool in the box

What do you do about run off and killing grass?

Note the weeds still not dead I sent you the other drive no dead grass either gotta be good with your spayer or brush on the sides. I’m not knocking the surface cleaner I still use mine some. Like i said it’s just another tool in your tool box. Especially in places with no vegetation why use a surface cleaner if you dont need to. I bet it would work great on that wall with some slo mo or whatever surfactant you like best

With your brown stuff concrete treating you don’t use pressure right?
I assume if it works that way it may be better for the longevity of the concrete surface, as it wouldn’t have tips blasting the concrete. Seems interesting because with some residential pours or ones done in the rain you can never know how the surface is gonna hold up

I’m intrigued so you softwash the concrete with a 4%sh and certain amount of brown stuff? Or do you ds hw mix with brown stuff added? Does it affect colored concrete? Looks great!
