Side Hustle Yay or Nay

I don’t think Heath made his guides with the intent to sell it in the first place. He made it for free to help others but people outside this forum all over wanted it and offered money for the guide that’s to the point without all the off topic threads and bias opinions that you have to get through to learn something on here. This forum is 30% knowledge 70% y’all’s social media

If people want a guide Heath wrote over his long days of research on a public forum so that others had something straight forward to learn from without having to sort through the bull and fluff, why wouldn’t he offer it. He likes to help. Why not make a dime too. Y’all liked it when it was free but once it comes with a minimum price tag, y’all hate. It’s not like it’s a $1000 course people sell online which by the way is knowledge they learned from forums like this one or from others, it’s 10 bucks. And he credits this forum for all the knowledge in the guide… don’t see the issue at all.

Side note: this guy helps HUNDREDS of new washers on a daily bases outside this forum. Literally let’s anyone come out for a day and work free or charge to learn, even in his local area. Gives military guys a pathway when they are getting out through programs. Don’t see anyone else doing something like or something along those lines besides racer. Max do you offer that? Or anything really besides comments on this online website ? Sorry but… y’all need to realize you don’t own any of this stuff. You type and post for free on here to help others. So help.

I don’t disagree that if you’re running a business, you should have insurance. I’m just curious, what type of insurance claims have people had with house washing? How do you screw up spraying a light bleach mixture and rinsing it off? Are the main issues paint discoloring? Frying electrical components? If you’re using low pressure like you should be, there should be no chance of damaging anything. Knock on wood, I’ve been washing houses for going on 6 years now and have never had an issue. My pressure is only 90psi and I keep my mix no hotter than about .6%. I rather go over a section twice than worry about killing plants.

Im in same boat as you @StinkerBean . Im a teacher and coach baseball so spring time is a job or two on the weekend. Open up in summer time for full time(ish) schedule but try not to work all day, 2 yr old at home i dont get to see enough as is.

Invest the money as needed to get a good set up… insurance, equipment, trailer, etc. Will make money back in no time and will be able to put a little away. Pay cash for everything and dont go in debt.

BS… Participate in the forum and share knowledge on here. Aggregating information from here and selling it, especially as someone new to the business, is just making a buck and in my opinion not in line with the culture of the place. Look at all of the things veterans like Racer and Innocent Bystander have shared for years just to help strangers out. When the guide was free, I thought it was really awesome. Charging for it makes no sense to me at all. If all you care about is making a buck and everything is fair play, I don’t think that’s what forums in general are about.

I’d pay $20 to bypass all the fluff on here and learn straight info any day.

But know the guides were never made to be sold, it just happened that way and lots of people want it.

Obviously I didn’t have a hand in this guide or how it came to be but, I just see people upset for a really childish reason based on information that’s on a public forum that anyone can use any way they’d like. If you don’t want to be a part of it or don’t want your info posted in a free or paid fashion, don’t post.

What a load of crap lol. I’ve helped a good amount of people here especially through messages, phone calls, and texts. You can never justify someone selling the information from this forum no matter what made up crap you come up with. You said it, this info is here (for free from people who want to help without anything in return including clout) and isn’t meant to be copied and sold. I was never a fan of it btw.

Things change. It might not have meant to be sold but guess what, people do it everyday and it’s happening now. People learn things, they organize it, and sell it for others to learn off of.

People sell your information on a daily basis such as Facebook. If I you don’t want for info used then don’t post it online.

What do you know about “info here was never meant to be sold” profile says you joined in 18, this forum been around over 10 years. How do you know what it was meant for? WCR is making money off this forum. They sold subscriptions for the knowledge. Be a gatekeeper if you want but you can’t control the internet or the info you choose to add to it

I’m in here to learn how to grow in the industry, not to see big kids arguing over someone helping others for a small fee weather it be time or cash…

I’d pay big money to see ONLY knowledgeable info on here. Not stuff like this. That guide, is only knowledge. Which is why soo many people choose to use that vs coming here to be told to use the search bar or see people talking about irrelevant information not directly related to the question. Anyways this is my last post for this subject.

I frequent all types of forums to ask and learn as much as I can about things I’m interested in. I also watch lots of YouTube videos on how to do things. Given all that I’d have no issue with paying $10 for a book to learn from. But I do understand where you guys feel like it’s not right to take the info learned from here, a free forum and put into a book for profit. I can actually see both sides of this if that makes sense. I’ve came across videos offering classes for well over $100 and pretty sure they learned from here. So let’s not worry about it anymore and get back onto the original topic. Can you guys take a look at my pics and tell me what I can improve on?

Your pics look great! Nothing to improve on. Don’t see striping, etch marks, or growth. Just nice clean concrete. Keep doing what your doing. Save up, invest in yourself and business.

Thanks. If I wanted to pre and post treat would it be wise to get a jrod and downstream it or just use a pump sprayer?

I wholeheartedly agree. I think it’s a cheap cash grab and only diminishes the percepted value of our industry.

“Want to start a pressure washing business? For $10 I’ll spoon feed you everything you want to know. No need to put in any leg work yourself.”

Honestly, I thought the guide on here was awesome. Very detailed, nicely assembled, easy to understand. It should’ve stayed here and it never should’ve been sold for a profit. No one here charged anything for their time, expertise or insight. Why should someone else get paid for using their information and marketing it as their own?

Either one is fine. Downstreaming does around 1% which is fine for light growth. Heavy growth a 2-4% strength is good to get the job done and loosen things up and you can get that with an X-jet or a pump system like a pump up sprayer, 12v, air, gas powered.

I guess I touched a nerve, didn’t know people were salty about it. I won’t bring it up again. Sorry for stirring things up for everyone.

Pump sprayer will take forever and you don’t need a pressure washer just to put some chemicals on a driveway. I use this sprayer that just hooks to a garden hose. You get about 20 different orifices to fine tune any ratio you need. It goes down to 5:1, so that will get you strong enough for concrete. I modified mine to have a quick connect where I can change tips. The 65 deg works great for covering a lot of area quick. It connects to a gallon jug and if you need more chemical at one time, I made up a bulkhead fitting on a 2.5 gallon jug as well. I put straight 12.5% and elemonator in the jugs and put whatever orifice I need for the given job.

That’s basically an x jet, but what one is that? Have a link?

It’s a Blue Mule Sprayall 50. It’s designed for low pressure and high volume. It needs to use a #50 nozzle to draw chem. I have 0, 5, and 65 tips I use on it. At 90 psi and a 0 tip it will hit the peaks on 2-story houses easy.

Ohh that’s meant for garden hose / low pressure. My bad. Thought it was for higher pressure

Go get one of these or something similar or go to Northern tool and get you a little 2.2 gpm pump or just buy one of their complete setups with small tank and all and put it on a cart. Plenty of info on here for doing that.
