Roof vs. Housewash

I like the sound of that! Anybody else using this method successfully?

What mix are you using? Iā€™m using f-13 and a brushā€¦sure would be nice to nix the brush though!

Iā€™m so confused. Why pay for a 12v addition to your set up? Why not just downstream with the pressure washer? I gotta be missing something.

Because you canā€™t clean roofs with DSā€™d solution (your post in the other thread is correctā€¦the solution is too diluted) Think about what you learned in foam fire streams classā€¦if you have the wrong proportion of ingredient to water, you donā€™t get the desired results. There are several old threads on here that explain why you canā€™t DS and get roof-strength solution out of it.

Also, a 12 volt set-up is not very expensiveā€¦1 or 2 roofs will pay for it easily. Why did you buy quality power washing equipment instead of just using a garden hose with one of those jet doohickies from Home Depot? The answer: because you couldnā€™t do the job properly that way! (Tim4 said ā€œdonā€™t confuse not spending money with saving moneyā€, and he was right!)

Thanks Jesse. That clears it up! I donā€™t mind INVESTING, just need to be a good steward of my expenses. Iā€™ve been trying to get educated on all the options for residential. I am anxious to start advertising but want to be a knowledgable professional by the time that first job rolls in. Searched for those old threads but came up empty. Iā€™ll keep reading. Thanks again.

Youā€™re welcome! Everything I learned, I learned in here and on PTState and TGS. If I get some time this week Iā€™ll try to find some of those threads and send you the links.

I use low pressure (WITH a 9gpm@3500psi Hydro-tek) The right chemicals and nozzle tips make the differenceā€¦
I also have a FATBOY for roofs , I have used it for spraying siding but always rinse with the pressure washerā€¦
GREAT CHEMICALS + MORE WATER VOLUME = Better clean!!!

I used my roof pump twice to clean siding. Once while on the job and my pressure washer went down, and the next day while it was still down. Didnā€™t really care for it.

You can use the Fat boy to do the soft wash but you will move along faster by rinsing it off wht a rince tip on your pressure washer. If you dont have a pressure washer then it will just take longer to rinse.

*Important Tip for you!!

Start the job by using your 3% mix on the roof, and when completed make the necessary adjustments to dilution to then have a 2% mix let over for the siding! Itā€™ll save you some frustrations, and you should always starts top to bottom anyways! Good Luck!

Some people do, itā€™s not good to use same system for both work. I suggest you to donā€™t use same system for both.

I actually have 3 different 12 volt setupsā€¦ One 2 gpm delevan for deck work, one 5.3 gpm for housewashes when working in areas with low water pressure (otherwise its downstreaming with my machine) and the fatboy for roofs

A 2% mix is Very hot and will kill a lot of plants if not used carefully. Many types of siding in my area can be cleaned easily with .5%. Test and bump up as needed. Plant damage leaves a bad impression.

We use a Water Dragon from the Power Wash Store. Itā€™s 10 GPM @ 300PSI and itā€™s totally combatable with bleach. We do a lot of fence staining and we clean the fences with a water/bleach mixture, no soap, using a 3.5 nozzle and that produces about 1 gpm. Perfect for applying bleach. When we do a roof, we switch to a 10 or 15 zero degree nozzle and it will shoot our roof mixture 40ā€™ plus. We use that machine more than our big Hydro Tek.

We can also used pressure washing cleaning.

Sure you can!

The only issue youā€™ll face it your use of chemicals and speed. Pressure washing is forgiving because the draw rate is so slow.

At 7gpm on a softwash pump, you have to be brief, as not to use up all of your chemicals.

Fill a 5 gallon bucket of your solution, downstream it into a water tank. Once the bucket runs out, youā€™ll have your required solution for the softwashing system.
